I have to say I am flapping already. We could easily lose the next 3, which will mean 1 point from 18. and then we will want to 'give lampard time with the new squad', and what if that doesn't go well and we are sitting in 20th come mid season?

I am not that worried. 1 point out of a possible 9 is awful but mitigating circumstances.
Defence looks more sound, midfield as of yet not brilliant but offer better protection of the defence though not up there with providing the attack.
Attack is non-existent and there lay the main problem at the moment.
A little while ago it was the defence and midfield that was the main problem but looks like we have worked on that and are looking more sound.
Settling in of new players will also help us going forward and the knowledge that we are still seeking more strength in midfield and attack.

Think we will be OK

What about 1 point from 18? What do we do when this happens?

Hope so, I think we had about twelve points this time last season,it's a bit worrying.

I’ll see you in may, bro when we aren’t relegated, despite your “inevitability “
I don't think it's inevitable but it's definitely possible. Despite the new signings it's still a poor squad. We won't score a lot of goals and the weakest teams are stronger than last year. When teams are looking at the fixture lists they will definitely have us down as games they should win.

With 6 signings it's Frank's squad now. Let's hope he's successful

Certainly agree, 39 points looks a very very long way off currently and that was borderline survival for last season so even though it's early days I can't see teams being o.k on 34/35 points this season given the promoted teams have started off fine and someone like Leeds is on 7 points already.

Would really help winning an away game sometime tbh. Dangerous to just assume team are going to be reeling off 9-10 wins at home to get to 30 points as already two home games have been and gone so it just piles on the pressure for later on in the season. Villa was certainly a game where a point at least was very realistic with how they've started the season. Barely had a serious shot for first 75 minutes.

After this away double header the next three aways are Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle so that's why this snail pace transfer activity is really bemusing me. There are winnable games happening right now but club is completely comatose to the situation and I think it's going to bite them in the backside.

We won’t finish above any of the 3 we are currently above. So we’ve given ourselves more to do than anyone else.
Wolves are certainly candidates to fall through the trap door, unless they get that attack sorted.

We've spotted the competition 3-4 points so far, which is not great but isn't catastrophic either. A point tomorrow isn't unrealistic, and after that we should have some goal threat. Rodrigo scores in bunches and is due to turn back into a pumpkin, so we might be able to nick those three.

The ensuing run of fixtures is ghastly, so we are either going to need to hope that we pick up some 'W's right before the World Cup, or that someone restrains Moshiri's itchy trigger finger. I don't think going for a new manager bounce at Crimbo is the way forward.
