Well then we’re bust as there is no way this team are staying up
It certainly looks that way!
When we are operating at 96% of revenue on salaries et, there is no wriggle room!
we are screwed financially unless we can pull a rabbit out the hat or we suddenly increase revenue and neither are feasible!
It devastating for the club, community and fans if it transpires

We were in a much worse situation last season after the loss to Burnley.
We are absolutely in the mix. But so are about 6/7 more.

The difference from last season is that we had a centre forward to fill in for Calvert Lewin and score some goals, alas he is a squad player at Spurs now, but, that is what is very likely to relegate us, the lack of somebody like Richarlison who can adequately lead the line. Calvert Lewin can't stay fit and nobody else can lead the line. We've had two-thirds of the season and scored 17 goals. That is relegation form for certain.

Looking at remaining fixtures, the teams who are capable of scoring 2-3 in a game will win. We're only capable of snatching 1-0's in my opinion. I'm being optimistic by suggesting we take 10 points from the last 13.

We are. But look at what wolves , Southampton, forest have scored. Up to last week west ham also . Every team down there are there for a reason.

Across the last 15 years, the average number of points required to stay up is 35.

The lowest number of points required to stay up was 29 in 2020/21

The highest number of points required to stay up was 40 in 2010/11

Assuming we need another 14 points from our next 13 games, where are they coming from?

Forest (A) - 1
Brentford (H) - 3
Chelsea (A) - 0
Spurs (H) - 0
Man Utd (A) - 0
Fulham (H) - 3
Palace (A) - 1
Newcastle (H) - 1
Leicester (A) - 1
Brighton (A) - 0
Man City (H) - 0
Wolves (A) - 1
Bournemouth (H) - 3

Those results would, based on previous seasons, see us safe.

We go down, we go bust.
That simple, we are losing money hand over fist, Championship Rules are much tighter.

We will be in severe financial trouble

What does going bust in this context mean? I think it would take a catastrophic sequence of events for Everton to actually cease to exist.

We’d go through administration first, and at that point we could be lucky and get bought by a multi-billionaire company/country for pittance, and turn us in to the next Man City.

I’d be much happier if we went bust.
Its a sorry state that it has us feeling that way!
I was with my old man at the weekend in sunny Southport, he is in his late 80's so seen it all, i went through a best and worst case with him, he was devastated at how far we have fallen, he doesnt keep in touch with all the shenanigans going on and who can blame him, but it hit me when he said my Grandad would be furious if he could see it, not just Everton but footie in general has been taken away from us the true fans in the main.

To make it even a point that we feel better if we didnt exist is truly an awful benchmark we have reached Macca

Sad times Blue!

It’s all subjective guesswork at the moment but based on current form / performances , I doubt we can beat Fulham, (a draw is a possibility), or get anything at all from the Barcodes.
In fact I’d be pleasantly surprised if we picked up any points away from home at present.

The other difference from last year, other than missing the impact provided by Richarlison and an on form Gordon, is that in my view there are fewer teams genuinely in the mix. I don't think there's any chance of West Ham, Wolves or Leicester getting relegated ahead of us. So it's between the current bottom 4 for me.

We can still do it, but the element of chance is much lower with fewer teams in genuine danger. Looking at remaining fixtures I'm confident of about 13 points, which means we will absolutely need to beat one of Spurs, Chelsea, United, Newcastle, City or Brighton.

We need a way to get some goals or cause some problems out of nothing. I think we should be giving serious consideration to converting players to centre forward and going pure hoofball in some of these games.

Its a good question and possibly hard to really quantify but we would see points deductions, a mass cull(so not all bad!), further relegation to lower tier? Finances wrecked, a long slow recovery(maybe, but how likely?)

Any Club of our stature going down this route would be a sporting catastrophe and should have never even been something to contemplate.
On the positive side, we can still stay up, thats the only objective really now, win or draw at all costs. My fear is we dont have the fight in this team to do it, we see bursts of it but its never sustained!
I really dont want it to be doom and gloom but jeez its hard!
