Depending on what happens with Brighton, joint lowest goals allowed in the league. Impossible to get relegated if that continues. This early in the season everyone always overdoes it because SOMEONE has to be down there, but the reality is 2 matches can jump you 12 spots on the table.
True. There are 13 teams with single figure points having played 6 or 7 games. Cant remember previous seasons but that seams like a lot of teams having poor starts points wise.

Southampton are proper muck. If we can get the forward line right I expect us to do them.

It was very poor down there last season, don't think there was shot on target all game. Was very early on in Lampard's tenure though.

Southampton are very random. Give them space and they can create chances but looked terrible the other night and would still have them as team who could easily finish 18th so certainly don't want to be losing to them.

At their best under Hassenhutl they’ve been spotty. I think the good runs of form have disappeared now and they’ll just unravel until they give him the boot.

They deservedly beat Chelsea all of three games ago.

That said I'd be very confident of three points going in the lead v them as you can create chances against them on counter attack.

It's arguably the most winnable away game before the break anyway...what else is there?

Spurs- Horror show last year. Won't concede five but difficult to see their front line being kept out.

Newcastle- Tricky but Palace and Bournemouth have got draws there in last few weeks.

Fulham- Many would've had this down as three certain points but they've really impressed me, have goals in them and midfield is very balanced. Would be happy with a point at the Cottage.

Bournemouth- Winnable but they're not quite the whipping boys I thought they'd be, not conceded a goal on home turf to Villa and Wolves so far.

That’s my point. Southampton could just was easily go on a run of 10 unbeaten and then get smashed for 10 in a row. Now they’ll put in one decent shift here and there and just be abject the rest of the time.

I think we will be competitive in all those games , now that we have a mobile midfield three I think we are set up to potentially be really effective away form home.

54-55 points is pretty much the full Ancelotti season. That had stuff like starting the season with four straight wins, regular away wins (although balanced out by the mediocre Goodison form BCD).

I still think that's a big ask even though things have settled down after toothless opening few weeks.

Would be happy finishing on something like 45 points and 14th place, that is where Villa finished last season and they had some poor runs so that's certainly achieveable with what the newly formed squad are showing.

I agree, I think 40 points is still the most likely target at this point. So 11 more wins or 6 more wins and 15 draws should do it.

We can’t control what other teams do, teams may stay up on less than 40 points but I’d rather not be involved in any relegation fight. The concern is the promoted sides seem to be doing alright, all picking up points, makes it more likely that one or two established premier league teams will get relegated

It’s not unusual for promotes teams to carry their good form into the start of a premier league season. A few bad results on the bounce and the feel good factor quickly goes though and they’ll drop down the table.

There are far worse sides than us this season. I can name 6 or 7 off the top of my head.
I wouldn’t go that far personally. I would imagine of the 6 or 7 sides you think are far worse we’ve played at least 2, maybe 3 or 4 of them? And not beaten any of them.

There are positives for us and we look a lot more solid than last year, but there’s still a long way to go. At times yesterday we looked wretched and we were lucky to get away with it. I think we’ve got enough quality to stay out of trouble but I think it’s going to be a bit of a slog to show that.

I will say it now, we aren't getting relegated this season. I thought it after the Derby. We're solid at the back and now midfield. With DCL to come back, hopefully fit and in form. The team spirit looking good as well. I think mid table this season, with a real look of something to build on.

My most depressing day watching Everton. Horrible performance after a horrible episode trying to get to the ground following the storm
