The credibility of the Premier League dies with any points deduction. That will corrode support for the competition and set up very uncomfortable precedents that - in marketing speak - will "seriously damage the brand" in time.

Regardless, it's essential we can get as far away from the bottom three before any punishment - if that is the outcome - can be announced. The optics of deducting 12 points from a team, say, 10 points clear of the relegation zone look very bad indeed for the League. It will appear spiteful and will surely be subject to all manner of legal appeal. It's imperative we can say we would have been well safe without a points deduction. Kicking the dog while it's down is easier. But plunging an upwardly-mobile side back into the mire is more difficult from a PR perspective...

Three points from 10th.

As long as the corrupt gets of the PL don't punish us we're home and ry here.
Only if we maintain DCL playing a bulk of the games. If we get hit with an injury again that sidelined him for extended period of I think the risks are still there particularly if there is a points deduction (which I don’t see but you never know)

This.

6 clubs tried to take it up a bind alley and kill it but get no punishment. If we get the punishment they should have had it's a national disgrace.

Exactly.

I can't believe how blasé some are on here accepting of a 6 point ban.

We are dancing on the trap door even without a deduction if we lose key players like him.

Is there a particular timeline on any decision? It wouldn’t surprise me if they made the cowardly decision to wait to see how far away we were from the relegation zone in terms of points before they decide on a) a points deduction and b) how many. Far away enough not to risk relegation and they can appear strong by applying some element of any punishment (if found guilty) to points deductions.

Can people please STFU about what point deductions we can 'handle' please.

1/ we are a terrible team and an injury away from being just like Luton, Burnley and Sheff Utd

2/ people are scouring Everton forums to see what reaction there'd be to us getting points deductions.

Thanks.
