…being in the bottom three and fighting relegation impacts results, I’m sure of that. Without the deduction the team plays with free spirit rather than being tense and pent up. Luton play with a free spirit because being relegated doesn’t mean as much to them, it means everything to us. The situation is a leveller.

Had we not had this penalty nobody knows how the season would’ve panned out but it could’ve been very good.

Normally agree with you Eggs but on this one - you really think say a Gomes or a Gana Geuye has more fight (or freedom) in them than a journeyman enjoying his handful of games in the PL?

We'll see in 48 Hours mate when Everton are 3 points better off plus whatever we get back from the appeal. It will then be for Forest to be the ones uncomfortably looking over their shoulders.

They play the RS away on Wednesday. By then we will have both played 25 games.

A win tonight, plus our rightfully earned 10 points back, then we can relax and enjoy the rest of the season. 👍

Have you met GrandOldTeam.com/forum/butties? Attention will instantly to turn to how we’re definitely down next season because the Leeds and Leicester globetrotters are back and ready to crush all before them.

Key focus is picking up 6 points out of our next 2 home games against Palace and West Ham, and any bonus getting something away at Brighton.

Next 3 fixtures for teams around us:

Luton - Liverpool (a), City (h), Villa (h)
Palace - Everton (a), Burnley (h), Spurs (a)
Forest - Villa (a), United (h), Liverpool (h)
Brentford - City (a), West Ham (a), Chelsea (h)

If we can get 6 out of our next 9 points, then I think we will be 4-5 clear of the bottom 3 going into March and amongst the next group.... if we get anything back from the appeal then we should be above all of the above teams hopefully around 14th place on 30 points (with the penalty halved).

Then it's all about getting as many points on the board before the end of the season. If we are on 30 after the West Ham game, then we can comfortably finish 17th upwards... Sad thing is it then all depends on how much the EPL want us gone and the size of the 2nd penalty imposed. Finish above Forest and then surely that 3rd relegation place cannot be ours.

In Luton's case I think they could end up ruing those last three results. Blowing that lead at Newcastle and then losing to Sheff Utd & Man Utd at home will be a bit of a body blow for them, particularly if it also means that Adebayo is now going to be out for any stretch of time.

They now have a tricky set of fixtures coming up, including the reds at Anfield next.

Worth mentioning Forest and Luton have cup commitments, too.

Didn't notice and good point..... OK so updated fixtures list next 3 games:

Luton - Liverpool (a), City (h), Villa (h), Palace (a) - 1 point (max)
Palace - Everton (a), Burnley (h), Spurs (a) - 3 points only (hopefully)
Forest - Villa (a), United (h), Liverpool (h), Brighton (a) -
0 points
Brentford - City (a), West Ham (a), Chelsea (h) -
1 point max

Whilst shame it is not City and United at home, Forest haven't got it too easy at Brighton away, and the Luton Palace game will be a big one.

But still we will also have the chance to put pressure on these teams by getting the points on the board. Much rather have that than the games in hand.

But we all know what usually happens when we get the chance to do something good and ease the pressure on ourselves.

Luton’s game against City is away and so is Forest’s game against United.
