Defence is weaker than last season though so it will balance out. If it can concede two v Sheffield United from their limited attacks it can concede two away to nearly everyone. And Villa game is indication of how well it will hold up v better standard attacks.

Going to have to be capable of scoring 3 regularly to win games this season imo. As good as Beto has looked so far it's big ask. McNeill back and ready to start now is a boost though as he's direct and is always getting shots away.

This season is basically on a knife edge already compared to other years when got round to January or February to experience that pleasure.
I dont see why the defence should be weaker than last season. We've got Banthwaite instead of Coady and a few games from Mina, and the FB situation has been strengthened with Young coming in. Once Coleman is back the back 4 will look and perform a lot stronger.

No real change in terms of overall quality at the back + immeasurably strengthened attack = 5 places better off this season...in theory at least.

And we still have Keano and Godders

Forest will be fine. Comfortable mid table as they've got real threat in attack with Elanga and Awoniyi (if he stays fit). Wood off the bench as plan B for last 20 minutes isn't bad either. He'd be the most obvious summer signing if Forest hadn't an obligation to buy so imagine him being signed instead of Beto....
Love this comment seeing as almost every blue in the transfer thread was losing their mind when we were linked with Elanga saying how crap he is. Now he’s somewhere else he’s a real threat 🤣

Let’s just say I wouldn’t swap Elanga, Awoniyi and Wood for Beto, DCL, Danjuma, Harrison and McNeil - we should really be fine, we just need to start picking up points now McNeil is fit, Dom is fit, Danjuma is settled, Beto is here and Harrison is coming

They've lost Johnson - their biggest attacking threat last season - and their most effective player last season.

Forest aren't climbing any table this season. The gravitational pull to the bottom will kick in sooner rather than later.

Let's see where they are at the end of October. Bottom 4/5 I'd say.

You chaps may be right, but there is a lot of confidence at Forest at the moment. Maybe misplaced, only time will tell on that one.

But we have improved our midfield and landed all of our top targets, depth was a real issue for us last year which seems to have been addressed.

I will take issue with comments about Johnson though, good finisher & great pace but MGW is our most important and effective player by a long way.

Put it this way, I don't expect us to struggle like we did last year but expectation & reality are different things.

City, Liverpool, Brentford on the horizon in the next 5/6 games and a couple against likely relegation teams: if Forest pick up, say, 10 points from those I'd be inclined to sit up and take notoice.

MGW is class, disappointed we were skint and couldn’t get him in ourselves when we were both chasing him.

I don’t think you’re relegation fodder btw, I just think people saying you’re better than us is wrong, I expect us both to finish sort of 12th-14th.

We should pick up the scoring pace soon. We have to find a way to sort the back, though. 2-2 draws are no better than all the 1-1 draws last season. If we want to claw free of the relegation scrap, we need ten wins minimum. 9 more or less guarantees being in the mix, 8 is very dicey and 7 relegates a club in most years.

Yes we love him here.

I would be happy with 12th-14th.

They'll pick up more away points this season. Thought 40m for Gibbs White was way OTT but he was critical for them last season as time went on. Matt Turner is a good pick up for them in goal as I was impressed with him playing for US in the World cup.

If they beat Burnley tomorrow (which I assume everyone is wanting) then it will be 3 wins from 5 from what has been a very hard start to the season so they'll need a long winless run to be anywhere close to bottom 4 coming up to winter.
