Not saying we're deffo safe like, but we've already matched the tally we had after nine games in 2005/06 with three games to spare.

We finished 11th on 50 points. Should have been 56 really, but for those crappy home draws against all three relegated sides in the run in.

that commentator just said when we kicked off brentford had only lost 1 in 18 at home
Excellent victory today, fantastic

Key is to try and back it up.

Last few seasons have been starting with a few draws and an early away win (Brighton and Southampton in first 5 games) and then nothing for months until one in the final 5 games (Leicester and again Brighton).

Just winning two aways a season never gets you far up the league if home form isn't very good and that's been the case for a year now.

Today was a template that has worked very well at Brighton and Brentford so let's see it used at the likes of Forest, Bournemouth, Palace and Burnley as those can be winnable games if getting the first goal.

Lampard had 10 points after first 8 last season....

Brutal winters can change seasons although the team really should kick on after a win like this and two upcoming winnable homes.

Think they had a similarly good record that we ended when we beat them at home earlier this year. Some mad results we’ve got to stay in up twice. Newcastle, Man United, Chelsea, Palace and Leicester 2 seasons back. Brighton, Brentford and Arsenal last season!

We went to Birmingham late October (very sunny) and won and we needed that badly

There is more goals in team with yr with a centre forward compared to last year so hopefully won't be near the relegation spots so should win more games . For the last 2 seasons hadn't a centre forward apart from when dcl was fit maybe for 15 games over 2 seasons.

This team staying relatively injury free is going to be a crucial. A bad injury to one of the CBs or Pickford could put us under serious pressure.

However, with Harrison returning and a credible alternative to DCL upfront, we should have the attacking options to score enough goals to enjoy some mid-table mediocrity for once!

not sure that’s the best comparison. from memory we were around the 3rd best side on points from game 20 onwards. i don’t see this side doing that this year
