Another @Ashtonian quote.

"Now 3 teams are currently worse than us so fans are fine with that. Except If villa beat us they go level on points with us, QPR beat us and win their game in hand they go level with us. Sunderland beat us and they will be widening gaps there. Burnley beat us and the bottom 3 shift up 3 points. As unrealistic this may seem see the list above. We are LOSING to everyone and we arent getting a result no matter if its home or away, top or bottom of the league. Never mind the worst form team in the league, i dont understand how people still hang their hope on us being safe, we are a few weeks away from being too late to sack martinez yet in trouble with him."

You don't understand how people still hang their hope on us being safe.

Hmmm, I wonder why I got the idea you panicked too early.

Come on man just before the newcastle game people were trying to tell you it only take a couple of wins to turn it around and you said and I quote

"I was saying we were in relegation form since december time, and we have won one game in all of that time! Its like the barry thing all over again, i didnt want him to sign, everyone says im wrong then over time more and more people come to the same conclusion. nothing to celebrate but simply i stand by what i think.

but, and i cant stress this enough, i am a 'doom merchant' as you say because we arent winning games. people who are optimistic are saying 'beat newcastle and we will be fine', 'get 10 points and we are fine', '3 wins and we are fine' etc. Except we arent winning games, and still continue to lose games through the same reasons, same tactics and lack of change. Its not doom mongering to believe we can actually fall into worst case scenario because we have spent most of the season so far doing so.

As i have said before, if the teams below us had turned two draws into wins since august, with no impact on our games at all then the conversation right now would be far different, ifs and buts but 6 points clear is not a safe margin on the basis of you assume the teams below us cannot over take us.
"

You were positive that the turn around that we all saw was coming wasn't going to come, it did.

2 wins in three months and you fault me for not thinking we would go on a winning run?

really?

2 wins in 3 months. surely I can'tbe the only person left who sees all this as anything other than a good run against two terrible teams and not a reflection on the whole season.

Last season was supposed to be this season and vice versa. His system and style, we weren't supposed to get it until this season.

This has been a transition and a write off. There have been glimpses of where we can go here but we have to support the man in the summer, the fans and sigh, the board.

If it'd have been that way around it'd have been more reasonable.

I think we have to settle back into an effective pattern of play next season. It's been a dogs breakfast since just after Christmas (the period before that got everyone wound up was at least a method...I see nothing now other than a pragmatic way of playing to get a result...and it aint too pretty).

Table wise we have to finish top 8 next season and take a domestic cup to the SF stage at least.

They should be the three targets for 2015/16.

I didn't realise there was a way of being vaulted away from the site?

But to be honest judging by your history of being right I won't believe it until someone else confirms it...

where have I said I was right at any point in the past 2 years?

I challenge you to go and find a post I have made where I have said to anyone they were wrong in what they have said.

We're 12 points clear. We win just one of thsoe 3 games and we'd still be 15th.

We were playing what you admit were two terrible teams and we only needed 3 points, as it happens we got 9. It wasn't as unlikely as you're making out.

Hence the fact that I and a lot of other people saw it coming.

You just didn't because you panicked and weren't thinking straight.

what did I say there that wasn't possible? so we weren't losing? so Sunderland beating us and Burnley besting us wouldn't shift us closer to the bottom?

and I also noted you havent dated that post. come back when you have the date I posted that and the league table and tell me what I was saying wasn't anyway accurate

That's the tone of the last couple of pages though. Everyone seems to think everything is suddenly all rosy again and that people were fools for doubting Martinez.
it wasn't about doubting or believing in martinez, it's that people were over the top going on and on about how we were certain to go down when it was never going to happen

We definitely were in a relegation fight.

Consider if we'd have got what we deserved on the run of play against Southampton and QPR - we'd be three points above the drop in disastrous form with seven games to go, with a side below us on a run of two wins in three.

Football is a game of "ifs" though - luckily, we've scraped three wins out of the bag, and after the QPR result we were all but safe, but we were right in the mix prior to three wins.

Regardless, it's been a horrid season, utterly inexcusable.

We defo weren't. I sadly remember relegation fights and this wasn't one of them this year.

Despite some wanting it to be as they've never liked Martinez from the start.

Which is a relegation fight.

Depends on when in the year surely.

When we beat man u in the first game of the seaosn they were bottom and then went on to win the league.

And bottom is surely in the relegation fight, so Man U were surely equally in one. Unless you argue it's too early to call this sort of thing and what you're actually fighting for isn't decided until the league settles into itself in april.
