When we're in the bottom 5? And not 12th?

I remember a few years ago someone in Spain started the last day 12th and went down, positions ultimately only matter after 38 games, until we are mathematically safe I am worried. Put it this way, the way we have played for about half a season, I will be surprised if we go into the last game at the giddy heights of 12th. I would take 17th right now, seriously. You wonder where our next league win will come from.

Say we only get another 10 points, which is cautious considering we've been crap all season and still average more than a point per game. Villa or Burnley would have to get 17 points (taking into account our likely better GD) for us to go down.

Given they both have taken 26 games to get 22, it's not likely.

However, RM still needs the sack at the end of the season for getting us this close to a relegation battle with one of our best squads in decades

It honestly amazes me how people are still in denial. We're now 3 quarters of the way through the season. We have 2 wins in 18 league games. At what point will people wake up? When we're 1 point off the drop zone with 2 games to go? Or will that still be "knee jerk"?

A 2 in 18 stat is something you'd expect from a new promoted side with little quality. Not a team that has Benn consistently finishing top 7 every year with a team full of internationals and a £28m striker.
