Relegation Fight 2014/2015

Going back to August after the first 3 fixtures I was worried that we had a look of Middlesborough 96/97 about us.
Do great in the cup but almost sleepwalk through the league season.
The squad is far better than our position, but our performances domestically reflect exactly where we should be :(

Bill will never sack him cos that would cost money and we've not got any of that. I think it's more that the fans will really turn on him if we balls it up in Europe. Baffling substitutions and the picking of his favourites (Howard) will turn up the pressure on him big time
I think we'll get to safety, lamely go out of the EL at the QF stage, people will grumble...grumble even more if Liverpool pick up a trophy...then we'll settle down into the summer and off we go again.

wish I agree will happen...which I think is the mentality of Evertonians that has given us practically 2 decades of nothing...and which will continue that way until we as a supporter base start to demand more again.

It's the key to understanding why Martinez is safe as houses this season. BK just wants PL safety, the cash rolling in from it to keep the plate spinning and (possibly above all) a bit of peace and quiet with no fan protests about lack of progress etc,

If you believe we're in a relegation scrap then it's fair to say we need to beat Burnley at home, Sunderland at home and Villa away. That's 9 points which would effectively be worth more than 9 points because of the gap it places between us. I'd say that's more than do-able with some additional pints elsewhere along the way.
Our form and luck has to change at some point - I think we'll win at least 5 of the remaining games.

story of his time at Everton, which history will show as a nothing period...

12 months since we last turned round a non-winning half-time score into an improved final result at home and 11 since we did it away from home.. so, all season we've not won a match in the 2nd half (yeah, we beat West Ham at home for example but we were winning at half-time as well).

Doubt that relegation will happen, 10 or 11 eleven points from 12 games should be achievable - and may not even be required given the utter dross in the 8 positions below Everton. However 15th place could easily happen which would mean a £12.4m drop in TV revenue (10% of total revenue), which would not be helpful for the summer transfer window

Unreal

Am predicting we will stay where we are now, 12th. Hopefully a couple of more rounds of EL will counter the loss of League placings to a degree?

I dont know what that stat is designed to underline?

There'll be all manner of weird and wonderful records being set when you have a poor season. When it all comes down to it though, there's only one thing that matters: position.

We've now lost 17 points from winning positions, most in the league. Mostly probably because of Howard!

Shows what might have been though.

EL money is a bit [Poor language removed] but could see maybe £5-6m from a decent run to the quarters plus matchday revenues. Unfortunately won't see much matchday from domestic cups

Hopefully that 5-6 mill will offset the League money dropped. But to be honest all hat new TV money coming in makes this thought all the more irrelevent.
