Relegation Fight 2014/2015

Right lads, safe to believe that now we're officially in a relegation fight. If Palace and WBA win next and we cock up at Arsenal which we most likely will eventually one way or another then we'd be down around 14th place minimum. Also given the fact we have to face Aston Villa away, Man Utd at home, South hampton at home, Burnley at home, Spurs at home, West Ham away which are gonna be tough. As a matter of fact we could face a league 2 side at home and still bottle it.

So how do we survive this season? Dropping Howard is one way or terminating his contract sounds like a plan to me. All the relegation fight fume and escape plan in here lads.

True we are in big trouble.Mirallas needs to be starting, love him or hate him. Hes the only attacking player we have who can change the game. Atsu should be starting if possible too. Bringing Mirallas on with 5mins left v leicester was a joke. Howard cost us two points, but if lukaku had scored his chances we would have won. Why he played so negative against a weak team bottom of the league, i will never know. Forget the europa league, as soon as we play anyone half decent we are out. We are in deep trouble, arsenal and stoke both away next. Tough times ahead. COYB Bluebray

Problem is, i don't think the players have it in their mind yet. Therefore i propose a plan.

The U2 song elevation, love or hate them, you know how it goes.

Every game from now on the park end and the gwladys will sing Relegationnn and the rest of the ground will fill in with the ooooooo...oooo oo oooo!

Players will then realise and buck up their ideas.

This is exactly it mate IMHO. The continuing increases in tv money paper over the cracks of a horribly managed business where most of the non-tv income is growing slightly but nowhere near as much as every other club who benefits from the same pot of tv money. BK & Co are playing roulette in the casino with someone else's money and sooner or later the credit line will run out or they'll run out of luck. I don't think it'll be this season but it will happen and when it does we will not have invested any of what we've had in building stable sources of income and assets for the club.
They'd only panic over a manager if we were right down there in the thick of a relegation fight in late March...adrift with 4 other clubs. It'd be worth buying out contracts and spending out to employ someone else and their entourage to save the loss of the massive tv cash revenue.

We are miles off that. That's why it's a mindless flight of fancy having debates about Martinez and his tenure. We are safe as houses.

It wont stop *them* plotting for it like. They dont care about the club or destabilising a sense of confidence that can be had over the way we've become more solid in the last month and a half.

Well that's cp and west Brom gone above us. This is a big week. Let's be honest can't see us picking up one tomorrow so Stoke is a big match. Probably the biggest in years. A loss to and arsenal Stoke and and wins for any of villa burnley Sunderland and Hull could mean 16th and right in the mix up...... and worse we would be the sliding team this year that slides from mid table into the zone .......ahhhhhhhhh. better do one everton

Players back, played some amazing football Thursday, only thing holding us back is the goalkeeping situation. The return of Gibbo and Osman give us more threat against teams that park the bus.

I think we'll get 4 points from the Stoke and Newcastle games which will settle the nerves. We'll be ok

Hull and Sunderland play each other next week which is a bit of a blessing.

4 games left, one point off the drop zone, would you advocate Martinez going in that scenario?

That's never going to happen...and if it came down to four games to go it'd be too late anyway.

We'll finish 11th/12th, imo. On 45(ish) points.

Not really - Burnley, Villa and Sunderland in last four games.

I agree we'll finish as you said, but playing a hypothetical - would you trust a guy who took us to that position to take us into those final games to keep us up?

Hull/Villa/Burnley all beaten again

Those three with Leicester and QPR are the 5 in the crap

Yarp.

It'd be a miracle if we went down, but that said we shouldn't even be discussing it as even a remote possibility heading into March.

This thread is just depressing, every European week it feels like Everton again and then the premier league comes out and you remember what a nightmare it is. Last season this was a top 4 thread and now we're back to this. Nice one Roberto.

Hopefully three points from the next two away games then a win v the Jawdees will see us pretty much there on 34 points,Christ if we can't get six points then until the end of the season we really are in it.
