If they think DCL is going to provide the goals needed to stay up we are already down. Need two more striking options and a creative players as well. Today proved we can’t score with what we’ve got. Week one and worried already. Everton that

We've got to win these games mate. It should be one of the easiest of the season. Don't care about tough luck, we've got probably 30 odd tougher games to go

Agreed mate but then we will no doubt take points from fixtures we dont expect.

Realistically this season was never seeing us fight for top 7. At best its a scrap for a top half/midtable and we have 37 games to go.

Talk of relegation is ludicrous at this stage imo particularly when we played well today - Fulham couldn't believe their luck make no mistake.

We all know Maupay will score at Villa

I started a similar thread less than 24 hours ago which got closed….

Why are we now running with this?
(Probably) Because the 'mods' thought it was premature and perhaps a little too pessimistic being prior to the first game of the season. It should have remained open since it was a valid discussion point.

Today's performance... No, today's result has once again highlighted the 'direness' of our situation. And our insecurity.

Just a thought though. How about opening a thread titled Championship Promotion 24/25.

Oh what fun this season is going to be. Let's hang on tight: it's going to be an interesting ride.

Yeah but problem is at this time we still have the same problems, injuries and no player to step up and get the goals. I will be more confident if we can bring in more to this team, at this time feels like another long season

Wolves and Luton should be "easier" home games to win so be very worried if at end of September the best is two draws from that. Mind you Everton that to lose both 2-1 and then beat Arsenal 1-0 in a classic backs to the walls display, infact I wouldn't be shocked at all if it plays out like that.

Worth noting Fulham were underprepared aswell otherwise Mitrovic would've started if he'd been 100% focused and also Andreas Pereira if he'd been 100% fit (he changed their tempo when he was put on the hour). No Paliniha either so that was probably the weakest central midfield and forward line they'll put out in a premier league match all season.

If we created nearly three xG and scored nothing, two things must have happened. We were unlucky, and we couldn't convert first-rate chances.

The first one will sort itself enough times to stay up. The second one must be addressed in the time remaining, because it won't fix itself.

Just showed to me the problem we had last season every other team can bring in subs to win a game.

From the chances Maupay first minute is a cross shot from difficult angle so not often those go in.

Pretty sure one of his close range hits straight at Leno was actually offside.

Doucoure had the best chance really, could've just dinked it over Leno or even squared it to Garner but that should've been the 1-0.

Cancelled goal is harsh but 99% always get disallowed if you make any contact with the keeper and Tarks ultimately did.

Not a huge amount in second half until a late flurry of headers near the end. Patterson should've scored obviously but again from the replay he may have been a limb offside, we'll never know.

Fulham had the better of the play then, MOTD missed out Reid missing a pretty simple chance just after he scored and Wilson also had a run and shot just over.

I only came in today and watched the second half so had a more negative viewing compared to many and judging from the highlights.

I think there's two issues though. Team under Dyche comes out firing first 20 minutes and if it works and something to hold onto that's a team strength. If there isn't a goal there's a dip.

Another is no real belief to get back in the game once 1 down. There were still 25 minutes of play after Reid scored. Won't be finishing too high up the league if you can't even get a few draws from 1-0s going into last 15 minutes.

Because we don't have a goal scorer or scorers
