Villa are safe, they’d have to lose every single game to have a chance of going down, they’re on 36 points.
I do admit it’s very unlikely they would be dragged in to it, but I wouldn’t say they are 100% safe. They lose both games to Burnley and don’t pick up much in other games, there position won’t look great.

It could go either way now tbh. Burnley winning is a huge blow, and we have to go to anfield to play the scum next.

I'm not sure what's going to happen really. That why it's so scary!

I think we have to be realistic in our expectations.
The next two games we will probably lose with whichever players and formations.

However, with a strong and fit 11 against Leicester away, who might be resting some players, is winnable.
Then keep playing the strongest available side until the bitter end.

So no injuries or red cards next two games then have it.

Sorry lads. Not happy with this situation, but we need our best sides for the games afterwards.

We are most likely going to be bottom 3 with 6 to play.

We just have to prep ourselves mentally at this point. It’s going to be toxic if we are relegated at our last home game. I don’t think fans will be kind enough to applaud the lap of honour. Kids will be crying and some fans will be understandably hostile. That is the moment these spineless players will finally realise what they have done to this club.

My concern is not that Burnley won it was the performance level. They played well. It was not a backs to he wall Nick a set piece with only 20% possession that you typically see from them. Against us for example they managed to score 3 goals with only 4 efforts on target. Today by half time they had had 6 efforts on target out of 11 shots. The way they played given their fixtures indicates they could win several more games.

I now think our best chance will be Leeds if they lose to Crystal Palace next. They then face Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea. So if they lose to Crystal Palace they could still be on 33 points as at May 11th when we play Watford. If we get 1 point out of the next 3 and then beat Watford we would be ahead on goal difference. We would then have 3 games left to their 2.

If we’d come out against Leicester and looked like a side trying to stay up I’d be slightly optimistic.

That performance has finished me off. So no more Everton for me this season.

I’ll bother next season if we are in the championship or manage to scrape enough to stay in the PL, which to me doesn’t now look at all likely.

Pretty much equal amount of games
Benitez turned the squad into an absolute wreck (more than it was) and drove out our only two creative players. Think it’s a coincidence we can’t score goals?? He also gutted the team’s confidence

Not to mention ripping up our medical and scouting departments without adequately replacing them, and allowing our only transfer money to be spent on completely the wrong players.

Lampard has made mistakes, but he’s been fighting with one hand tied behind his back

The only reason all of us are looking at Leeds and Burnley are because we know just how poor we are, how low on confidence we are and how unlikely it is that we can pull off a small run of either 3 wins or 2 wins and 2 draws like Leeds did not so long ago.

We were completely outplayed against Leicester. Burnley against West ham and Southampton looked like a team that wanted to go out and get the points. We don't/won't/can't do that. The real shame in this is that in 94 and 98, we weren't good enough as a squad but this lot should be much higher up the league.

Looking at the table this morning can ANYONE seriously still maintain that the recent loss to Burnley WASN'T a disaster?

A draw in that game and there would still be four points between us. If we'd won, the gap would be seven points. Of course we've had well over a dozen awful performances this season (hence our current position) but the timing and enormity of the loss to Burnley was just so damaging.

I honestly hope we play fro the draw, boring, tight behind the ball. No rush of derby blood, stupid reds etc... just hope pickford plays a blinder and run away with a point...don't see it happening but it's the only chance of anything
Bit like when we got a point against them under big Sam, in an attacking sense we offered nothing and managed to win a point from a penalty, which I believe Rooney scored.
