I’m hoping the Southampton game will be an anomaly - they were so poor last night bar a brief twenty minute spell where they bought che adams on and he missed two sitters. I reckon Wolves will be much tougher for them, lose that and it changes things again.

Ultimately we have to match their results now. Sunday is the only time id say we have close to zero chance of grabbing something so I dare say that Burnley v Wolves is the latest ‘biggest game of the season’.

We could very well go down, but I can also very well see Burnley fall off the wagon again. I’m looking at the positives that we are now two games unbeaten for the first time till October…just typical the Derby is next.
I wasn't surprised at all....
But I thought Southampton were an absolute disgrace last night - no one else to blame than ourselves though.

Sorry to be the pessimist but people saying that 9-10 points from the remaining fixtures will be enough to keep us up.

Right, that's fine, but the question remains still, where are those points coming from?

Pool and Chelsea are near guaranteed losses.
Leicester and Watford away from home. (Away fixtures, need I say more?)
Brentford and Palace at home are probably the only winnable of the remaining fixtures and will NOT be pushovers.
Arsenal away from home? Would these players have the bottle?
This is how I see it too, I see maybe 4 points from the home games, they won't be easy and it won't all go our way.

And zero points away.

We might nick something at Chelsea, maybe a point.

So is 5 points enough to stay up?

This is typical of the yo-yo mentality of some fans: we win a game or Burnley lose a game most people are looking at the remaining fixtures and declare they've looked at them all and can see us getting 10-12 more points; if we fail to win a game and Burnley win one they look at the very same fixtures and then cant see us getting more than 6 points.

It's completely laughable.

Let me save you the bother and cut to the chase for the the upcoming round of games: we'll get f.a. in all likelihood from Liverpool and Burnley will get a draw at best from Wolves. We may be in the relegation zone on GD or not.

After that we'll have a game in hand on Burnley and then we'll see if this team and manager can cut it by saving themselves.

I think that just about covers the situation, tbh.

Brother Dave.

I’m not yo-yoing.
I’ve felt for a while that we are destined to go down.

The club has been mismanaged from top to bottom for the past 4-5 years.

The chickens are coming home to roost I’m afraid.

It’s gonna take a mammoth effort to avoid the drop. I just don’t see these players having it in them.

whoever saying it’s good in another ten years time when we’re still they’re. erm ok

i’m 41 i will probably be dead by the time we come back.

relegation ends this football club no two ways about it.

I was born the season before we got promoted back to the top division. So I've lived most of my life with us being in the top echelon of the game. Not for one moment am I saying it's not a gloomy outlook but if we do drop I'm convinced your 43rd birthday will be a happy one. The vast majority of fans will stick with the club and ensure we'll be back before you know it.

We need Wolves to get something. It's a huge difference if we only need a point in our game in hand, rather than a win, to go above them.

We need 3 wins. The players need to wake up to this and literally be willing to leave everything on the pitch. No more passive starts. No more half hearted tackling. No more shirking responsibility.

Still a sickening amount of our lot saying that relegation may not be a bad thing for us.
Get this effing straight, Everton and The Championship do not belong in the same sentence.
Get used to it because it’s happening.

Maybe it’s just people trying to put a positive spin on it to help their own sanity?

The other issue is that Burnley look well up for it. And when they're up for it they have demonstrated that they can actually be a real threat. We just don't seem to have that. We rarely seem to win a game by more than a single goal.

Also their run-in of fixtures look far kinder than ours, going up against teams who have little left to play for this season (except Watford).

It could argued that we have to catch up with Leeds (whose fixtures are horrible) and hope that they go down instead of us and/or Burnley.

Like I've said (no doubt after being on the slop) Everton were around before the premier league, and will continue to be around without it again.

Relegation may put some stress on the club. But it won't spontaneously combust, though I wish some playing and corporate staff would.
