There's no silver linings to be had.
I'm beginning to think that people have no idea what demotion would do the club.
Catastrophic is probably the only way to describe it.
I for one cannot countenance the top tier of football without Everton being there.

i’m worried and depressed
your completely right. everton getting relegated would end this club no coming back what so ever. and any one who says it’s good to go down etc hasn’t a clue.

and people who say oh i’m not assed etc there is more to life. maybe everton going down doesn’t bother you as much as it would to me.

Why didn't we think of that earlier. We should've taken thousands down to Spurs on a Monday night and sung. We would've won...oh wait.....

We've got a problem with some absolute bottlers playing for this club. We've tried supporting them and backing them nonstop. We'll support the team for 90 minutes, Goodison will be a bear pit. But let's not pretend for a second that:

A, the fans haven't been behind them.
B, the players could possibly lose more confidence/care less.

Lose on Sunday with another great atmosphere and I fully expect it to turn nasty. Half of the team need the Nyarko treatment.

Blindly supporting the team has got us nowhere. Maybe they need some rougher treatment. But let's not even begin to put this on the fans. The players are a disgrace.
For all the “this is the big one, “we must win this one” etc etc shouts about matches gone by, this really is THE ONE. If we don’t win it, or god forbid, lose it, there will just be too much pressure on the remaining home games for these bottlers to handle. It could well turn toxic if we lose on Sunday. Win it, and we’ve every chance of staying up.

Remaining games:

Leeds (H) - Toss up. Can go either way.
Southampton (A) - Havent lost at home since September.
City (H) - Loss
Spurs (A) - Difficult game
Wolves (H) - Beatable
Watford (A) - Win
West Ham (A) - Toss Up
United (H) - 1 win against them in our last 17 meetings.
Palace (H) - Look revitalized under Viera. Too much pace for our defense. Loss.
RS (A) - Loss
Chelsea (H) - Loss
Leicester (A) - Toss up.
Brentford (H) - Win
Arsenal (A) - Depending on league positioning could be the most important game of this clubs history.

I see a maximum of 15 points from our remaining fixtures leaving us with 34 points. In other words we will need to outperform to avoid relegation. Its actually grim.

Forgot the postponed games.

Burnley (A) - Win
Newcastle (H) - Who knows.
Leicester (H) - Win
3/3 So far. Wolves is our next game and i say we can beat them. Dont know where the goals will come from or how well beat them but they seem to put in gash performances from time to time.

Such a make or break 11 days ahead of us here.

Could be a few points better off, breathing a sigh of relief and possibly be looking ahead to a trip to Wembley.

Could be starring even further down the barrel and lamenting yet another season with no silverware.

The Wolves match is huge. Win and things will look a lot brighter.

Lose and we are staring relegation in the face.

Kind of ironic you write the players need rougher treatment and the players are a disgrace on the same line, as for Half of the team need the Nyarko treatment, yeah thats really going to help, we deserve the championship if this is how some fans think

Great post mate!

Always had a spot for the Villa, well Villa Park, must be all the "Proper" Semis in the 80's

A good perspective tho.

Anyone wanting us relegated is deluded as to how it pans out, it will be devastating for the Club in so many ways.
Just to mention I've got a complete downer on all things Villa, and have never wanted them to prosper.
Back in 1977 after the worst Wembley final ever, Everton and Villa football specials were lined up at the station waiting to travel back north.
The old carriages allowed door windows to be pulled down, and I was in deep conversation with a Villa fan directly adjacent our train. We spoke for a good few minutes nice and civil when their train jolted and as the train pulled away he summoned up from his throat the biggest, dirtiest smelliest mouthful of spit and landed all of it in the centre of my face.
Hated them ever since.

I can totally get that from that story, horrid rat of an individual doing that!

77 was a real downer, was at OT with My Dad and Grandad, was horrid night, especially after the late Latch goal at Sheffield in the 1st Replay thought we would hammer them at OT!

Would have made Gordon Lee, a win there, set us up nice for the next season. RIP Gordon

Shed a few tears that night, my old man threatened to stop taking me!

Yet here are some 40 plus years later!

We Shall Not Be Moved

What have they bottled? We are nowhere near relegated yet, there’s still 13 games to go and still in the FA Cup. Having to play 2/3rds of a season under Benitez would dent any team’s confidence.

Let’s not forget that this team was top of the league at one point last season, they are more than good enough when they are all fit and firing. Time to get behind the lads

If (big if) we get relegated our first XI from current squad will likely be

Begovic
Patterson, Godfrey, Bran flake, Myko
Gray, Davies, Townsend, Gordon
Rondon, Dobbin

I'm not sure we'd get promoted with current players. Stating the obvious we need to survive, but each passing week my confidence diminishes.
That team might not be good enough to come straight back up, but you have to factor in that even with a slight relegation discount the player sales would probably bring in 150 million. Plus an enormous saving on wages. Spend half of what we get in on the best young players we can get then flesh out the squad with loans from the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd and on top of the good young players we already have I think it’s a squad that should easily come back up.

Please break down where the hell that amount is coming from?

On the physical point, I'd say it's no coincidence the fact our only wins since September in the league have been against Arsenal and Leeds, both who are near the bottom of the league in terms of physicality.
Bielsa's training methods being blamed for all the injuries.
