About this time last season, I remarked on the poor choice made regarding the Blue Chrombo panto...'The Mikado' was always going to be a tough ask for our brave lionhearts. However, this year's choice should be a doddle for them: it's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'...and it's about a bunch of fairies.

You make a good point, Lampard will be great - long term I’m sure. However I thought we required a large Samual rescue job, we looked that bad, as we do now. Nobody ever wants an Allerdyce but sometimes you need one?
Yep that’s my point, sometimes the best managers are not the right managers for the occasion.
a manager so young into his career like lampard is, with doubts about defensive capabilities, was not the safest choice.

Both previous jobs he had where 1. A team that where already fighting for promotion, 2. A team with crap loads of talent. Neither team was fighting for survival.

we where and still are in a downward spiral. Defensively we where terrible even under a defensive manager like the FSW. It was and is going to be an uphill battle with lampard.

no one likes or wants an allerdyce, but they are sometimes needed, and I would be 10000% more confident in survival with him.

The table won't lie after 38 matches. We will go down if we deserve to go down.

It is actually quite remarkable that we aren't in the relegation zone at the minute. That gives me a little bit of hope, although not a huge amount.

I live in Germany. Perhaps the best analogue for an Everton relegation and what happens to the relegated giant afterwards is Hamburger SV. HSV were the best team in Europe in the early-1980s, 1983 European Champions, so their very best years very nearly coincided with ours. The team of Horst Hrubesch, Manny Kaltz, and Felix Magath were feared across the continent and played in three European finals between 1977 and 1983. HSV were known as the "dinosaurs" in Germany as they were the only club to play in every top flight season after the formation of the Bundesliga in 1963. After years of mismanagement and humiliation, the dinosaurs finally fell through the trap door a few years ago - and are still waiting to get back.

The bigger they are the harder they fall. We will drop like an anvil through netting if we fall. Like HSV, much of our self-respect stems from our tradition. Part of that tradition is being ever-present at the top table of football. When that goes, a lot of the self-respect goes and we become stripped of much of what made us what we were. We become just another formerly successful club with a giant fanbase and ancient history that becomes a burden. Basically, we must stay up.

Even if I am no longer as arsed as I used to be, like...
We are the new Huddersfield?

Great Hamburg team that. The monster, Magth and Kaltz. Class. Keegan rocked up there too?

Because the structure of a club like Norwich is 'Get promoted to Premier League, don't spend more than we can afford but keep your fingers crossed, get relegated but keep the wage structure and spine of the team in place, get promoted again'

The entire club would be decimated if we were relegated
The decimation of the squad sounds like a big step forward

We are going down I said this back in December and got laughed at. Look at our fixtures compared to others in the bottom 4/5 we have the hardest 12/13 fixtures to go. I can’t see it going any other way. Benitez and poor, poor, poor recruitment previously has killed us massively. This squad needs a reset, maybe relegation will help us rid of the [Poor language removed].
