Someone always goes on a run down there, needs to be us.
Yes, that's true.

However, even allowing for a run that hands a club down below us an unlikely return of 10-11 points in the 9 or 11 games left (basically 50% again of their points tallies so far after well over 2/3rds of the season) that will leave them struggling to get to us if we just get two more wins.

We have a few opportunities to get 3 or 4 wins IMO.

The formula for winning at GP has been re-established:

  • manic crowd
  • team getting behind the ball and defending in numbers
In the last few weeks that's got us victories against

Brentford
Leeds
(leave out the Boreham Wood win as unrepresentative)
Newcastle
...and handed City a massive headache in which we should have got a point

Wolves was the odd one out...and that's because we strayed from the magic formula.

Like the old days isnt it mate, looking at fixture runs and were we might pick up points.

Points are the life blood, id like us to look at games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd and be unhappy to leave with nothing, three draws there and we have three points, id take a point of West ham to. We might to, i often think we're better when we dont have to be on the front foot and attack a game but contain it, we held our own against Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd this season already. Really we have to hate to be beaten.

We already have points against Arsenal and Chelsea, so no reason we cant get points there too....also United are flakey.

Feels good to have a little bit of breathing room from the bottom three but still a lot of to be played. Seems like the club over the last years have had troubles coming off big wins and play poorly. I just hope the players are buzzing as much as the fans, which I’m sure they are, and can carry on the momentum. Away at West Ham is just important, IMO. 2 wins in a row and then going to Burnley to hopefully deliver a knockout blow. UTFT!

Then you are looking at dead teams who might not have much to play for, Palace and Leicester fit in there. If previous experience has thought me anything, you loose games you think you may win and win games you think you may loose and you have serious stress issues in between. lol

We have to instil the belief that the only team that leaves Goodison with 3 points is Everton…the team need to be personally and collectively affronted by the thought that the opposition think they can win at our home ground.
In the 5 games left at home 3 are winnable(2 will be night games under the lights) and we need to scrap like hell to earn at least a point in the other 2 games.

The away form is another matter altogether.

If we keep humble and dont get expansive (Spurs away!!) keep it tight and hard to beat, we have the quality to snatch points.

If Lampard has learned that we are going to be safe.

Hard working team + Fans = wins.

Simple as that.

When you reflect on the season, its the lack of momentum that has tripped us up and been a huge obstacle, failure to build on a good result, we've had horrffic injuries in key lines almost weekly - again last night, we've changed managers (you know were i stand there), there was a lot of players leaving the squad during and outside windows, then all the Covid stuff.

If we can get some form of stability, confidence and fitness into the team for the final 11 games and get some momentum, we have probably the best opportunity, with our future in our own hands.

Im upset about Allan though, i think hes a massive loss, for the way we will have to battle in games. Maybe we will appeal but id expect sweet Fanny Adams from the powers that be. Again momentum and stability broken by outside forces.
