Surely......SURELY the players must've enjoyed that feeling. The ground bouncing, the win, the feeling of it all. It's totally upto them to continue it now. We can do our bit (still irks me that it was dead against Wolves) and now they have shown that they're capable of doing their bit.
Difference from.the Wolves game was the crowd were behind them until the final whistle.

When you reflect on the season, its the lack of momentum that has tripped us up and been a huge obstacle, failure to build on a good result, we've had horrffic injuries in key lines almost weekly - again last night, we've changed managers (you know were i stand there), there was a lot of players leaving the squad during and outside windows, then all the Covid stuff.

If we can get some form of stability, confidence and fitness into the team for the final 11 games and get some momentum, we have probably the best opportunity, with our future in our own hands.

Im upset about Allan though, i think hes a massive loss, for the way we will have to battle in games. Maybe we will appeal but id expect sweet Fanny Adams from the powers that be. Again momentum and stability broken by outside forces.

Hasnt been helped by having 3-4 key players out every week including our main CF.

Major changes needed in our conditioning department as has been an issue for too long. Most other sides can seem to play the same team bar the odd 1 or 2 most weeks whereas we have 2 keepers and some random kids on the bench at least half a dozen games if not more a season.

I think WHU offer us a chance. They can sometimes come unstuck at home.

If we can get an unbeaten run of 3 games it'll be massive...and decisive.

Ild still go for it in the cup too BTW.

Win at Burnley or Watford (Watford more likely, Burnley probably looking at scraping a draw) and we're in a better position.

As far as the run in goes I see it something like this:

Everton 27-25 - Winnable 5 Reasonable Prospect of Points 3 Unlikely to avoid Defeat (Liverpool, West Ham, Arsenal (unless critical)) 3
Brentford 29-30 - W 3 R 5 L 1 (Chelsea away)
Leeds 29-26 W 3 R 3 L 3 (Chelsea home, City home, Arsenal h)
Watford 29-22 W 6 R 0 L 3 (RS, City, Chelsea A)
Burnley 27-21 W 8 R 0 L 3 (City H, Spurs, West Ham A)
Norwich 29-17 W 2 R 5 L 1 (Man U A)

Treat games like Watford v Everton as winnable for either side. Home games against good sides as a possible result (draw?) and away games against the best 6-7 teams as a probable loss.

This kind of run in would produce a final table something like:

* Critical Head to Heads amongst the Bottom six indicated thus:

***Brentford 37
***Everton 36
***Burnley 33
**Leeds 32
****Watford 31
*Norwich 23

*Of course any big 6 pointer (e.g. Everton at Burnley or Watford) is crucial and if we lost both then we'd likely be very close to the drop.

Other big 6 Pointers include: Everton v Brentford, Watford v Brentford, Brentford v Leeds (final game), Watford v Leeds, Watford v Burnley, Norwich v Burnley

Need to keep it tight, we know how Davey will set up it will be a percentage game and they dont score many goals, but can wear you down, have to match fire with fire. Bowens been out - though not sure if hes due back. Pity we never got him.

Momentum is key, its back to basics really, fight battle, earn the foudation for your quality, total concentration and keep it compact beyond the high press.

Id still be going hard in the cup myself, its a great opportunity, to play without pressure and for the manager and squad to get time and games under their belts, its awful the likes of Dele and DVB are cup tied id want those two nipping at heels looking for a starting place Dele in particular, Joe used it to build momentum and spirit in 95 and it helped us in the league, look were it took us.....

I think we looked more solid tonight, playing
4-2-3-1, without looking like we could score, until DCL came on. I think Richarlison needs to be told that if he is playing centrally, he needs to stay central, otherwise it’s pointless. Hopefully DCL will play for the remaining games.

We have given ourselves a chance, it’s too early to set points totals, we will be dependant on other teams and other results, if we do as well or better than the teams around us each week we will be fine. Certainly it would be good psychologically to move up the table and put more distance between us and the bottom 3. But we are 3 points ahead of Watford now, with 2 games in hand

I'm trying to be confident. But the way we are playing is still a recipe for disaster. That was arguably our 2nd easiest game left and it was a bit of a miracle that we won it in the end.

The last 2 home games we've just had, Wolves and Newcastle we have had half of the shots of the opposition and half of the expected goals.

The fact of the matter is that we need to play better than that because we don't have the crowd in our next 2 league games. This has to be considered because just like the Southampton game away, we go into It confident but the tactics and style will have us second best in the game and most times that will result in a loss. A loss to Burnley will put them likely 1 point behind us at that point and then we have that dreaded run in.

The one thing that encouraged me was we did look a lot more dangerous when DCL came on as the focal point up front. Hopefully he can stay fit now for the remainder of the season.

Hopefully last night's late goal will be the spur to go on a run good enough to keep us up, and if it does I wonder if the much maligned Iwobi will become a club legend in the same way as the also much maligned Barry Horne in 1994 and Gareth Farrelly in 1998
