Relegation

Just win the next 2 games and be a big gap to bottom 3 and end this nightmare constantly checking other teams results and worrying about relegation

Let’s be honest Brentford mailed it in. Leeds was a good performance but they were all over the shop at that time. Newcastle performance was shocking. Truly awful display.

All being said 4 points from next two games has us seeing relegation in the rear view mirror.
That's nonsense. They were all beaten by a more motivated team.

It seems that you dont want to give any credit whatsoever to the team.

I'm their harshest critic and want most of them gone, but to just call every game we win or perform well in 'lucky' or down to the opposition not turning up wont do.

Come on you know the dance by now with this team. Lampards first game. Spring in their step. Playing a team not arsed. Easy game we have long seen through the years. Following week Newcastle away what happened? Well you know.

We played well against Leeds. Was great promise in that display but it wasn’t followed up. City yeah we stayed in it and we’re robbed but they were, as expected, far superior. I’d say the way we set up against them should be our blueprint. Grind out some draws.

There’s been too many criminal displays in the Lampard era for what you say to hold any credence. I fancy any team in this league who are on it to sweep us aside. This isn’t born out of some wild opinion it’s something we’ve all witnessed all season.

Well there's our difference of opinion.

Brentford cup game
Leeds at home
City at home
Last half hour down to 10 men aginst Newcastle

...all performances that had character and commitment.

Yes, away form is chronic. It'll need to improve. But there's nothing inevitable about us losing games away. It's just fatalism to write these next two games off.

Three points from the next two games (or even just denying Burnley at their place and getting a draw) will see us in the driving seat.

I worry that the away form becomes a self fulfilling prophecy though mate, especially with this group of players. Do they think they can get something from an away game?

The counter, and it wont necessarily be popular, is we have started most games away and been unlucky. Newcastle away Holgate gives away a stupid ball and we concede from the corner. Southampton we start well and are denied a penalty. Spurs we start well and we have an own goal and a bit of a Pickford mistake. Palace away we start well, dont get the goal, and give one away sloppily.

We dont react well. In fact we react awfully. I dont think that will change in 2 months. But what night change, is that we actually get ahead in a game we are playing well in, or hold the lead for more than 2 minutes. When we have done that, generally we have got stronger and calmer as the games gone on.

Even though we were well beaten in all 3 away games, had we got the 1st goal, when we started the better team, we may well have won all 3 games.

You'll get no argument from me that they are flakey and inconsistent. But that's different to saying they were undeserving to win a few games.

Exactly. We have zero character to respond to reversals, but the possibility is there for us.

If we win one away game - that'll do. We'd just need two home wins to get us pretty much over the line.

I might be being unduly optimistic, but am trying to look at it dispassionately. Watford and Burnley are running out of games. Watfords home form is dreadful. If we avoid defeat against Watford & Burnley, I think we are almost safe.

I also think Chelsea's form by the time we play them could be all over the place. If we play as we have done at home, I'd fancy us to pick something up from every game.

There is tbe possibility this lot completely throw the towel in. I'm not sure they will though. That's the only way we go down. I think we are 9 from 9 against PL teams under Lampard. If we maintain that performance level, that gets us to 36 points. We probably finish 15th/16th with that.

Looking at Burnley there, bloody ell they are poor point tomorrow chance for 3 points if they turn up like that midweek
