Republic of Ireland Golden Generation

Born and raised in Ireland so I think England have no chance with that one. I think it's the ones born and raised in England who are likely to choose England if given the chance.

What do you mean they don’t want to go out of their way to play with Gavin Bazunu??

Yeah I think you can see that with Rice and Grealish. As soon as they got the call they switched without hesitating TBF

They probably much prefer just being part of a proper fully functioning team as well rather than having all the pressure heaped on them to carry the bums around them single handedly like Bale had to do for so long for Wales. I see Rice and Grealish play with a freedom at International level, free from that burden.

Honestly don't know what they really want. Just had a look and lost 4 of their last 10 games, two of which were against the number 2 ranked nation in the world and current European champions France, once against Netherlands, once against Scotland (who've been destroying everyone) and the other time away to Greece.

Bit baffled like, do they think they should be beating France and Holland to finish top of qualifying or something?

I agree. Teams like them, Liechtenstein, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia etc should be happy to take part. Some would argue there should be a pre-qualifying stage to trim the fat and cut some of these nations out but I wouldn’t go that far.

No not all (although the Dutch weren't any great shakes last night), its the results against Greece and Luxembourg and so on that will spell the end for Kenny. He's been tactically poor in these games.

He's been a bit unlucky losing key players almost every time he goes to pick a team but other managers are able adapt and get on with it, so should Kenny. He's using moral victories and possession stats to paper over the cracks.

No, we shouldn't be beating Tier 1 teams evey other game but we ahould be putting poorer teams to the sword and at least holding our own with sides of a similar ranking - that'd be the general consensus among Ireland supporters I'd guess.

I suppose none of our group results are unexpected but we played really well against France in Dublin then were hopeless away to Greece. Seems to be a lot of 1 step forward then 2 or 3 steps backwards.

Not sure where the golden generation thing came from tbh, nobody in Ireland is claiming that.
