It's with regret that we have disabled/removed the reputation system.

There's been a sharp rise in Evertonians leaving abusive reputation comments to other Evertonians.

Unfortunately, the way in which the software is configured, we're unable to notice an abusive reputation comment unless the particular member notifies us.

I'll be trawling through all comments made in the past several weeks and banning any member who has left abusive messages.

I'll be looking to introduce an alternative system which doesn't leave us so open to abuse.

I'm a moderator on another sports message board, so coming here with the reps was a bit odd to me. I didn't think it was a good idea.

Having said that, I think most people here had a good attitude about it, and it's unfortunately that a few bad apples had to ruin it.

Honestly I think the regular rep system without negs would be fine to be honest. If you've got a serious problem with a post it should be reported, not neg repped. And other problems are usually just disagreements, and giving out a neg rep over that is petulant.

That said, I'd miss the sight of a good kit.

if they are that snide then they will just leave poss rep but with an abusive message!

imo you should be able to leave rep but not feed back/comment on it! good or bad!

but also let everyone know were there rep is comming from!

I still don't see why people view neg repping like that.

I pos repped a post when I wanted to say "very amusing, sir" or "Good point, well made" without spamming up the thread with contentless posts. I likewise neg repped a post when I wanted to say "no, that's stupid," or "that's utter bollocks" without spamming up the thread with contentless posts.

I don't understand why people took the latter as a declaration of war.
