Request for a current affairs forum

I appreciate that this is first and foremost an Everton related football forum, however I'm sure there's enough interest in having a current affairs forum under the GOT umbrella.

Save getting the Ale House clogged up with endless political arguments subsequently deleted - a dedicated forum, I'll even offer to moderate it

Mods, owners, debt-holders etc what's the view?

I guess it doesn't bode to well for a separate forum if the thread discussing it turns ginger/Welsh thing.

But, if you don't like dance music don't go on the dance music thread, if you don't like wrestling don't go on the wrestling thread, if you don't like David Moyes go on his contract thread. Why can't we have threads about politics? If you don't like it, don't go on the thread.

You say there are plenty of other forums where you can discuss political issues, but I don't know of any forums with such a diverse membership as GOT. The entire English speaking world is covered, all 7ish classes are represented and an array of political beliefs. I don't think you'd find that on many other sites.

If things do become heated remember your on the Internet and there are thousands of websites which will help you out with your frustrations.

To be fair, that's kinda how things are at the moment. We made an exception for Thatcher because the issue was so divisive, but by and large we tend to give political threads a chance and only shut them once they get a bit daft.

What do you mean by a bit daft? Like I said above, there are threads filled with personal insults / going off topic all over the site that aren't closed - this thread is a case in point. Why single out politics for this treatment?
