I appreciate that this is first and foremost an Everton related football forum, however I'm sure there's enough interest in having a current affairs forum under the GOT umbrella.

Save getting the Ale House clogged up with endless political arguments subsequently deleted - a dedicated forum, I'll even offer to moderate it :o

Mods, owners, debt-holders etc what's the view?

On the topic of stuff, interesting here

Basically says that everyone that votes Labour is from the north, and everyone that votes Tory is from the South. Neither party has hardly any success in the other part of the country.

Democracy's great though like.
Come on, it is not only the north that despises the Tories - the rest of Europe disagrees with everything they say and do aswell.

Isn't most of Europe Conservative (not saying that means they should agree with Cameron)?

The trickle of blue on that map of Europe that goes right to Scotland I'm guessing that is wealthy places like Harrogate. Would it be fair to say most rural areas vote Conservative?

That's pretty much it isn't it? The people with the most money vote Tory. (Pretty simplistic I know)

There's Conservative strongholds in the north as well. You just look for the places with the money.

Really good point this. What comes first Labour or poverty, or money and Conservatives. Liverpool was a rich city (conservative controlled) and only got it's first Labour controlled council in the mid 50's. Then we got the militants in the early 80's and the place went bankrupt. Real chicken and egg question this. Did we decline and so got Labour, or got Labour and then declined.

Similarly with the Conservative areas, did they get rich and then vote Tory or was it the other way around. Chico's point is spot on though Conservative areas have money, Labour don't. Why?.......
