The Esk

Player Valuation: £70m
I appreciate that this is first and foremost an Everton related football forum, however I'm sure there's enough interest in having a current affairs forum under the GOT umbrella.

Save getting the Ale House clogged up with endless political arguments subsequently deleted - a dedicated forum, I'll even offer to moderate it :o

Mods, owners, debt-holders etc what's the view?

My actual honest opinion is that it's not a good idea.

Why should Current Affairs/politics have it's own area?

You do that, then people will be wanting an area for everything. Cooking, dogs, and the games forum to come back.

It's a football forum first and foremost, and I think we all forget that sometimes. If you want to discuss politics or something that isn't seen as appropriate by the owners or mods then there are plenty of other forums where you can chat and post about those things.

That's my 2 pence worth anyway.

I think the idea was so that if things got a little heated, as they do, they would be in a cordoned off area of the site where close modding could take place without putting additional load or grief onto the site. But as you say there are other forums for this...

To be fair though Pete, the requirement for close modding is one of the reasons why we've limited political stuff in the past. We don't want you fellas falling out, and these things can sometimes get pretty heated. Of course if mods are on hand to cool it off then that's great, but as we're all volunteers that isn't always possible.

Totally agree, but Esk and I offered to do it just for that area ( which also means the both of us would have to take a back seat in these discussions), so as not to put additional burden onto you. Let's get these last couple of weeks out of the way, let things settle down and then either try it or just delete this thread and we can forget about it. Speak to Esk and see if in the cold light of day he still fancies it or let's just move on.......
