The Esk

Player Valuation: £70m
I appreciate that this is first and foremost an Everton related football forum, however I'm sure there's enough interest in having a current affairs forum under the GOT umbrella.

Save getting the Ale House clogged up with endless political arguments subsequently deleted - a dedicated forum, I'll even offer to moderate it :o

Mods, owners, debt-holders etc what's the view?

Think it is a great idea in principle but I just feel it won't work, sorry esk.

People are falling out over views and certain views aren't respected or tolerated. I think maybe trialing it to see. It would be nice having someone to go and being able to say 'tory' without the thread being closed or disappear.

It's the way of the future......

Aye, it's certainly interesting.

To be honest, I think that's half of the problem. People seem to toss out labels like that rather than discussing the ideas people are talking about. Just not sure it helps as people often then get defensive and toss their own names back and so slanging matches begin.

It's a shame we can't talk about important things in the ale house, yes it's an Everton forum but aside from doing endless BBC predictor leagues or making up implausible rumours the interesting stuff only happens the days around a matchday.

Adults shouldn't be falling out over debates and discussions on the Internet.

I explained to you about this.

I've never once not been grateful for the work mods do, I just feel some things are allowed and other things aren't

Yeh you have but you just said 'It would be nice to go someone where you can say the word Tory without it being closed or disappear'

Thats not the reason they get closed or moved.

Interesting responses from all concerned - I'm a little disappointed to be honest, but as there's no great enthusiasm or willingness to trial an area for mature discussion of current affairs I've more than enough to do elsewhere to push it.

Let's file it in "no further action required"

I'll admit i've been guilty of that, but I feel it doesn't always go into slanging matches, people have views, strong views, I just feel some are not always accepted - and that might be fair enough, it's an Everton forum and the rule has always been 'no politics' but when political talk occurs my personal opinion is some views aren't always allowed.

As i've explained in other PMs and posts I do not blame the mods at all for this, as you can't mod every single post - just my opinion i may be wrong like and if I am fair enough.

As ever, despite our differences in opinion I am grateful for all the work the mods do
