"Review the manager in December..."

I reckon things are a lot better than they could be. The team are not just good but good to watch. If we find a way of actually beating teams that we are ten times better than then it might even be a happy new year.........

Ha ha comedy gold. Turning a discussion about Coleman into attributing views to me I've never held. This is a new low. Find me the post where I said I didn't want Martinez when he arrived? Coleman had a good first season under Martinez but like his defensive counterparts declined massively since. So are Stones, Coleman and Baines bad players or is it the system? Since when is the manager not responsible for form? I'll say it again. When people stop looking for excuses and start holding the manager accountable for what happens on the pitch we might actually improve.

It's truly amazing the way that Coleman and Baines have gone from being the best pair of full backs in the league to one of the worst in the last couple of seasons according to some. It's surely just a coincidence that they can't stop crosses coming in anymore unless they have a private understanding which they are keeping to themselves.

Truly amazing I tell ya.

And as for Stones I read yesterday that that he is fairly useless now and needs to be shipped out if we can get a good enough offer.

A truly amazing coincidence all this.

In what way has he been poor?

There's only one incident I can think of since he came back from injury were he's not looked solid.

Just think he's been slack defensively on a few occasions. For example Bournemouth's 3rd where the hell was he stopping the cross? He was standing somewhere between Stones and Mori for whatever reason.

I still love him btw. But defensively he's just been iffy lately. Not terrible, but iffy.

On the assumption that the current board are serious about selling up then :-

A real threat of relegation, which would take a hammer to the club's valuation, and the current board would sack him. Season ticket and ticket sales in general seem unlikely to be an issue. Only relegation, or the threat of it, would bring about a change in manager at the moment.

Sad but true

And as we all know 'We don't sack managers.' especially before a League Cup Semi.

Bingham?

Uber!

Start 2016 with a nice home win! New year new start n all that.. Maybe kone will score to stop you all crying!! :)

I have to say, that grates with me. Agree completely.

I'm still pro-Martinez, albeit only just, but constant polls about being good enough after every single game? How many hoops does the guy have to jump through? We love him to bits until he loses a game? It's essentially singing when we're winning.

We ridiculed Man U for not sticking by Moyes, and laugh at LFC for their often reactionary, err, reactions to stuff but I wish some of our (possibly younger) fans would see that they're doing exactly the thing they ridicule other clubs fans for. I'm not having a go at younger fans, it's just the sad way the world has gone, I retain hope that the majority of blues can remain level headed though.

X-factor generation from @chicoazul is spot on, in society as a whole, not just football. I'm not quite as sold on Martinez as you are Dave, but I'd stick with him presently.

In my experience it's the older fans that I know who dislike Martinez and want him out - and the younger fans like me and my mates who want to stick with him!

I wonder if you were to reverse our home and away results if people would feel the same about this season. If we had only lost one match at home so far and were conceding only a goal per match at Goodison, would there be so much angst about the season, even if we were still in the same spot in the table?

Conversely, I really do wonder why we're so much worse at Goodison than on the road, especially defensively.

Yay! Another thread to moan about the manager.

Just what the forum needed.

Fyi ain't no way I'm reading all of that.
I agree. These threads focused on the manager are metastasizing like a cancer. Was it this weird and obsessive under Moyes each slow Autumn? And now moderators seem to be generating threads on him. That my imagination?

......I suspect he's safe as long as we are not in the relegation mix. New owners could also hurry things along, especially if RM loses the support of key players.
