Tbf we only had three more games from Jan 1st but yes at least there'd have been a window and a full time to really implement some ideas.I’d have sacked Benitez already (never hired in first place obviously) but I think I’d still get Lampard. I like what he’s doing here and the performances are getting much better.
I think he’s unfortunate that there’s no time for performances to get better it has to be results NOW whereas if he’d have joined 1st Jan rather than 31st Jan I think we’d have picked up a lot more points and have a nice system in place and looking forward to moving up the league next season.
It’s January 1st 2022. Benitez is still manager with a game coming up v Brighton.
The transfer window is open. What would you do? Manager? Players?
We had a chance to fix the car but only managed to cut the brakes. What should we have done differently?
(For me, sack Benitez after Brighton. Keep Digne. Appoint Nuno on a short contract. Loan an experienced CB and CM)
Thing is we only played 2 league games in January under Rafael, it was the Norwich game that was the killerI’d have sacked Benitez already (never hired in first place obviously) but I think I’d still get Lampard. I like what he’s doing here and the performances are getting much better.

15 minutes too lateThe best thing we could have done was when we hired Benitez on the 15th June at 2pm.
We should have sacked Benitez on the 15th June at 2.15pm
A normal, proper club who knows what is is doing keeps both of them. Heaven forbid we have two viable full time options for each position.Villa fans doing nothing but moan about him, awful player now, punting him for Myko was the highlight of the window
That's true but Lucas was needed to be sold for financial reasons, not just his poor attitudeA normal, proper club who knows what is is doing keeps both of them. Heaven forbid we have two viable full time options for each position.
Well yeah, he shouldn't have to have been sold for financial reasons either! That's true but Lucas was needed to be sold for financial reasons, not just his poor attitude
This is true, the merry go manager round was bonkers, also the payoff we couldn't really afford, that's how messed up Moshiri has made this.In fairness (and everyone is free to their opinion as to whether or not fairness is warranted), I think the delay in sacking Benitez was as much about trying to change the culture of managerial churn as anything else.
He'd never had a poor attitude with any other manager until Benitez told us he did, which was a lie. That's true but Lucas was needed to be sold for financial reasons, not just his poor attitude
