Rewind to January 1st..

He'd never had a poor attitude with any other manager until Benitez told us he did, which was a lie.
Regardless he had been terrible for a while and isn't missed at all, he didn't want to play for the club, the shirt or the fans, good riddance

Honest feelings here.

Benitez was the last person I wanted here, however when he beyond belief got the job I got behind him and hoped upon hope he'd make it here.
I supported him 100% with a clean slate given. The "little club" comments that riled so many honestly never bothered me, in fact I'd love a manager of ours to sometimes be as cutting towards opponents.
New manager bounce( as it now turns out to be) had me really confident, then the losses started, not just losses but losses that were unacceptable and so avoidable.
The team was flat, the atmosphere turned toxic and Benitez started to put out sides that defied belief, as did the tactics, totally unfathomable behaviour was displayed by the bloke. It became clear he'd have not turned this around if he stayed for 10 years.

We were playing against poor sides as if they they were Manchester city's, it turned hopeless and surely somebody at the club could see it needed nipping in the bud way before Christmas.

I personally would have held serious talks with Moyes in November if I'm totally honest, the internet may not of liked it but I think the fans would.

Would we be in 18th now if that had happened? I can't say, but my hunch is no. We'd merely be picking on Moyes now because he had us in a boring 10th place with nothing to play forlol

It’s January 1st 2022. Benitez is still manager with a game coming up v Brighton.

The transfer window is open. What would you do? Manager? Players?

We had a chance to fix the car but only managed to cut the brakes. What should we have done differently?

(For me, sack Benitez after Brighton. Keep Digne. Appoint Nuno on a short contract. Loan an experienced CB and CM)
Go further back mate. Should’ve hired Moyes when Ancelotti left.

Regardless he had been terrible for a while and isn't missed at all, he didn't want to play for the club, the shirt or the fans, good riddance
He hadn't been terrible for a while at all and we ended up playing Jonjoe Kenny at left-back so yes he was very much missed.

The only person who said he didn't want to play was Benitez. Digne has refuted these allegations. It's who you believe - the man with a track history of falling out with players, staff etc and lying in the media, or a player who has a history of none of the above.

I don't care that we sold an older player and got in a replacement on a lower wage. I care that we did it to back RAFAEL BENITEZ who is a huge reason why we are where we are.

Not getting in a solid CB and CM was criminal. That said I guess Mina was actually fit at that point, you lose track of his fitness woes.

Would also say a new CF should've been sourced on six month loan given the gamble of just assuming DCL would hit the ground running on his return has been a disaster.

If we'd sacked Benitez back on Jan 1st we would've probably of cobbled a few more points. Villa and Brighton where both there for the taking at Goodison. Norwich wouldn't of ended in defeat under anyone except Benitez either. I think we'd of taken five points out of those three games under Lampard. Nothing spectacular but the league table would've looked a lot better then it does right now.
