It just feels to me that as soon as we get a "Lookman" replacement he will be off, call me paranoid but.

Even at £35m it’s over the odds imo. This is a player that was pretty poor for the last 6 months of the season and lost his place in Watford’s team. We should only be paying £30m+ for top players who are crucial to their teams and are fairly certain will improve us. This seems 50:50 whether it will work out to me, which is a big risk for that kind of money.

If we try to ignore that fee for a minute and look at what a talent this lad is. His touch is first class. His movement is excellent and his appreciation of players around him is also very good. It’s not easy to come in and make an impact straight away. He puts himself about.

Of course it does. Salah was less than £40m. Call me old fashioned but I think the least you should expect of a £30m+ player is double figures in terms of goals/assists for a forward, and for them to be first choice for their team.

The market has gone crazy, but even despite that we seem to be agreeing the most inflated deals relative to other clubs time after time.

£35m -- which is not the way deals with add-ons are reported, but just for argument's sake -- is still high for someone with one average season in the PL.

The positives as other people have highlighted are a) that it seems to be part of a sound strategy this time, and b) the players are young and will have a resale value.

Oh yeah, they're NEVER reported without the add-ons, that'll be why I see Lukaku reported as £90m in the press ALL the time will it?

Richarlison came in as a 20yr old who'd never played in the country before, and had already played almost a full season of Brazilian football. It's hardly surprising he dropped off.

And Salah... yeah obviously as it turns out he was an absolute steal. But he'd completely flopped in the PL before - don't think anyone saw it as underpriced at the time.

Even if he helps us beat the bottom 5 teams, there’s 30 points just there. People might focus on beating the top 6, but the real points come from the other games.

Maybe so, but he did drop off. We shouldn’t be paying that kind of money for a player who has ‘dropped off’.

I do t care about spending big money either , but on decent players. Nobody else would pay that for him, literally no other club in the world, your only arsed about players coming in and smashing it ? What happens if we can’t sign players in a couple of years because we have over spent on heaps of players we can’t sell? Basically a similar situation to what we have now x5 , that’s wouldn’t bother you?

It’s the constant cry arsing that’s annoying. He will smash it I’m sure of it he is a decent age and if/when he smashes it his sell on value when it comes will be double what we payed. Both brands and silva wanted him one obviously worked with him at Watford and the other wanted him at PSV they clearly know what he is all about.
