2020/21 Richarlison

I do think Richarlison is just suffering a bit of a blip, possibly even bordering on trying too hard. He’s still finding opportunities to cut inside etc (when their defender went A over T yesterday springs to mind) but it just isn’t coming off for him.
Don’t think he’s looked the same since his ban, but I am certain he will get his mojo back.
Hope he’s not too upset if his mate Bernard is off, seems to get on well enough with the rest though.

Yeah, I understand that, but some very poor players still play in CL across the group stage.

There's really no such thing as a 'Champions League' player- it's not a good barometer of quality, is my point.

Think we all know Richarlison has a lot to improve on and unfortunately at the moment he's playing poorly, for whatever reasons. But we can't just give up on a player who's dragged us through the last two years because he's going through a bad run of form.

It all boils down to having nobody to rotate him with and nobody to push him either.

He's clearly putting in the effort, just nothing is coming off for him, bar a few decent runs at the start of yesterday's game. He's a forward and needs to play there but defensively he's so important to the side that he's been playing pretty much deep left wing over the last few months, and he's picking up the ball on the halfway line rather than the final third.

Of course, but when people talk about Richarlison “wants to play Champions League football”, they clearly don’t mean he wants to join Olympiakos to play 6 group games every year. They mean he wants to join an elite club and be a first teamer playing with the intention of winning the competition. Well he is nowhere near that level at the moment.

It is time for the manager to put the smile back on his face, he even walks on the pitch looking like he is sulking. If your best player is showing a lack of enthusiasm it won't take long to spread around the rest of the team.

He’s frustrated, he’s a fans player and he responds to the crowd. This lockdown could be affecting him 1000’s of miles from home, he’s an infectious character. Some of the calls on here are a bit harsh he loves to win wears his heart on his sleeve but it not happening. Chin up
Soldier if your reading this we are behind you all the way.

He wants to play champions league football and knows we're a long way from getting there. Even when the usual top four challengers like Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs are off the pace a little, we still manage to not take advantage and have teams like West Ham and Leicester above us. And Villa not too far behind.
Every player wants to play CL football. The best way to get it is to play CL quality football. That way you either drag your current team to the CL or get signed by an elite level club.

This season, he's as far away from that level as the likes of Gomes and Sigurdson.

I’ve thought for a long time that Richarlison is a centre forward, I think he feels that way too. I’m not sure he’s used to his best advantage out wide, he’s one of those players who come alive in or around the box.
It's where he wants to play as well, and Carlos refers to him as "striker" often . And I suppose we are when we are going forwards in the last third, but that's not really happening currently.

He’s carried us for 2 seasons and been our only real threat. For whatever reason this season he’s struggling, so probably needs some competition for his place which he just doesn’t have.
