Genuine question to the fans who rate him so high (I think he is OK, on his day), how many season of only turning up ten times per season, would it take for you to question him?
For me, three seasons is enough, if I am honest two season was. The occasional bit of brilliance does not justify the other twenty odd games of little to no contribution, tracking back is not enough.

It always amazed me how fans see players differently and this is an example of that

I personally think he was our best player before last season and an almost talismanic figure, when he was at his best we won matches and he drove that during a couple of pretty bland seasons.

So to me, he’s had one bad season with only a run of five or six games in the middle where he looked himself. If he starts next season in the same poor form I think most people like me will start to get annoyed.

I think the fact that he seems like a really good kid helps though, he’s always involved in charity things, at home and with the club, like him and Mina with the disabled kids dancing and I love his replies to kopites on Twitter (and I’m not even on that awful app).

Copa America and then Olympics, it's a worry that he will short of energy next season.

I wouldn't want to see him sold though.

If you look at our players, how many of them do you think would look out of place in a top side ?

Richarlison, DCL, Digne, James, Godfrey, Mina and Pickford are the only players we have who would get into say Real Madrid or Barca's squads.

Richarlison walks into Madrid/Barca first 11.

We need better players around him. Not Sigurdsson or Iwobi types...thats the key.

Mate, they have players that actually contribute every game.

They signed Depay,Suarez and Hazzard on the back of amazing seasons NOT the sulk on the back of 15 average games.

Imagine the reaction of their fans if he played like he does for us for two thirds of the season, theyd crucify him.

Except he doesn't do nothing for 89min. That's revisionist.
He didn't track back(as much) when in a 2 up front but no one can argue he wasn't putting a shift in for the team prior to that. Carlo and he had a discussion about his excess defensive work.
So according to your logic, the obvious return stats don't matter and scoring a goal doesn't qualify as turning up. So even if he gets the winner in a tight game, its not enough for you? Lionel Messi does that btw with less defensive work. Would you want rid of him?

Richy doesn't disappear though. Even when he's not in form, he's still trying.

Loads of others in the side do disappear though
