Oh the classic it’s a crap football country post

Sorry I’ll reserve praise when he only scores against Argentina

I mean ranking is so important especially after the current European champions missed out on going to the World Cup losing at home to a side ranked only 9 places above Bolivia
Im surprised some on here who think Richarlison is crap and we will be lucky to get 30mil come the summer.

Will tell you tap ins don’t count

You think I care about ranking? I'm more concerned that we're bothered he's scored on a league one quality side. Ranking be damned.
We couldn’t even score a goal at home against a national league side until after he came on at half time

I don’t think we as a fanbase are in a position to mock any lower league opposition given our struggles against borehamwood, Hull and QPR this season especially when it comes to National sides where players tend to play with more pride and passion than they do for their local sides.

He plays for a club side that doesnt know what a clean sheet is. He can miss the odd chance at international level but they will still be in the game and its not as noticeable.
Every chance has to be more or less buried with Everton because we're like a colander at the back.

Not really a surprise this.

Plays for us and we are absolutely terrible and he struggles.

Plays for Brazil and seems to turn into a different player.

Maybe.....the problem is us. Maybe if we made him the key player in the team here we might get the player for Brazil. Fans will still jump on him though when the team does badly and make out he is not good enough like we seem to for all our best players.

Brazil have most of the ball in the final third and create lots of opportunities. Also important to remember that Richarlisons international goals have come against El Salvador, Peru, Qatar, Cameroon, Honduras, Uruguay, Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia.

Everton don't have the ball in the final third very often and create few opportunities. They are also in the toughest league in the world.

It is easy to understand.

The reason we don't so any of that is down to us. We don't play as a team, we don't have players who can (or will) play to tactics given to them as we can clearly see now. We don't do that because our 20/30 million pound players around richarlison are the reason why we are in such a mess we are in.

Teams play to their best players, not in spite of them. We don't play to richarlisons strengths so therefore we don't get the best out of him. He is a far better player than where we are in the league. How many of the squad can you honestly say that about?

You are right, he is our most valuable asset capable of playing at a higher level. I think, in a better team, he would do better. But that is probably the case for most strikers. If you give them more chances in the final third, they will score more. Richarlison could play for a team in the top six but I don't think he would be world class there either because his attitude is not always the best. He has to take some responsibility too. It is too easy to say that it is just down to the team not playing to his strengths some times.

you need quality players to get him service whoever he's playing against, same with DCL, for club or country

We don't have that. Townsend is our most 'creative' player because he lobbed a lot of crosses in. Our full-backs are all crap, bar maybe Patterson who's not got a chance, and Gray and Gordon are not creative at all because they never get their heads up, bar the odd decent cross.

Richarlison can do more and I don't believe he's a striker for the Premier League. He's a wide forward in a proper 433 or 4231

I said this after the palace game but none of our attack ever play as a team. Richarlison seems to either get the ball 30 yards from goal or he has 2 players all around him. Same goes for gray , Gordon etc. It's that lack of structure, direction even, in the team that is why we struggle to create. We know now that the blame for that isn't on the manager because it's happened under 3 managers this season.

He may not be an out and out striker but how many players who you consider world class are now? Mbappe , Salah, Messi etc all have a similar position to what richarlisons best is. Where he plays for Brazil as well let's remember.

It's the perpetual cycle that we never break with players like rich. Reminds me of when gueye was here under Silva I think it was. We were asking him to push forward as a midfielder rather than sit in front of the defence and pushing him out of his comfort zone resulted in worse performances.

I agree with you both, he is better suited out wide, there he is a top class player. His work rate alone we have seen. Perhaps he may not be at the top class level now if you wanted to argue that but it's difficult to improve when the overall team is going backwards.

I guess the best way of putting it is if Messi was in our team this season, he would look no better than iwobi if the team itself doesn't work for him. We have had that with Richy, we don't seem to want to play a system that brings his best out , so he is effectively blunt on the pitch having to find his role. Whereas this team at its best has saw Richy with a specific role our wide but scoring and creating.

Is completely isolated, gets balls hoofed up to him with two/three men around him, no runners from midfield making space, no creativity playing the ball to him in dangerous positions or creating chances, nothing coming from the wide fullback area. Left to do it on his own.

There isn’t a striker in the world that would have scored a lot of goals and looked good the way we’ve set up the last season and a half. Embarrassingly naive to think he or Dom are the problem - very good players surrounded by dross and we should sell them? Give me a break.
