This is true. Truth is, Crouch, despite his height, was not that great in the air. His control on the floor was to be envied though.
However, he is not Brazilian, and worse, he played for TRS, so he can sod off.
Crouch was very good in the air, the surprising thing about his game was, he was actually very good with the ball at his feet as well just lacked the pace to have been outstanding, a very under rated player though.

Why can't he do that for us? He doesn't even attempt those kind of shots for us. It's hardly as if the ball reached him really a pinpoint cross or after some world class play.
No mystery. It’s a team game, we don’t attack as a team. We have no creativity from midfield or out wide, we have no one from midfield making forward runs and creating space for our forwards. Result, there’s less space for our forwards, they’re easier for defenders to mark, they get isolated and are left to do it all themselves.

Despite some thinking it will be a great idea to sell Dom and/or Richie, the reality is they’re both good players, even very good. If we sell them, what we’ll find is we’ve sold two of our best players and that they weren’t the problem.

Thanks Roy. In my post to @Narntwinnysivven just before where it was pointed out to me that I had goofed as I did not phrase my post at all well. My bad.
What I should have typed was the fact that for a tall man he was not a natural 'target man'. Excellent on the carpet, good in the air, and as you say, no pace.
Underrated as you correctly say, but not as underwhelming as my original post.

Apologies to all, and maybe a flagon or three of the Brunswick Flyers corn plaster and wild herb linctus to ease my embarrassment.

I don't believe we will have any choice in the matter, if he really wants away then he will get away. The club have continually let him down, he battles away in the face of adversity and while he may show some petulance he is far and away our most bankable asset. I can see us loosing both him and DCL and possibly Godfrey or a combination thereof in the summer transfer window, these are players at an age where they want to be winning something and we don't seem to be anywhere near living up to their ambition. I really can't blame any player wanting to leave Everton, we have been promising them that we are on the brink of something only to disappoint, now we are in a relegation batter and face scrutiny on who we can bring in next year, the future looks bad for the next few years and that is with us staying up. Time to be realistic, we are a bottom half club and we require a complete overhaul if we are to improve.

These 3 aren’t winning a sausage in their careers in England. Especially the latter 2.

Woah! Now that I didn't know. I will need to be more careful of my remarks in future.
Truth is, my comment was more in reference to him not being regarded by many pundits/fans/managers as being an out and out target man as such.
Irrespective, thanks for the correction.
Tbh, I seen it mentioned somewhere the other day and you gave me the opportunity to show off my new found knowledge ?

The problem crouch had was how he looked rather than his ability. His goal scoring record for England is surprisingly good, esp when you take into account who he scored against compared to the more fashionable stat padders who were guaranteed a starting spot every game and failing to deliver when it mattered.

This is all well and good but if the FFP issues are as severe as expected...how do we improve the defence and midfield without substantial sales?

And how much money would those we need to offload realistically raise (beyond DCL and Richarlison)? And who would be willing to pay the same wages we pay even if we did shift them on. The cost of paying off all those bloated contracts might end up offsetting whatever money we make from shifting them on. Add to that the turnover from contracts running out in the summer (in some cases, thankfully) and you can see a summer with lots of changes whatever division we are in, and a massive job for whoever is managing us to try to get some sort of cohesive unit together to show up convincingly by the start of next season.

Why do you have to spoil everything with reality!!??

Can see the sense in having to sell one of Dom or Richie to fund spending but not the crazy shouts of “sell them because they’re crap”. They’re actually two of the few good players we have, we’ll struggle to replace with the same level of quality, folk don’t seem to acknowledge that.

Im not sure how much DCL is on. I’ve seen 25k a week, 60k and 70k. But most teams in the prem can afford that. I’d bet every team, even Norwich/Burnley/Watford have players on that money.

And when teams are buying players for 50/60mil and I don’t think wages will be an issue. Both will get pay rises wherever that go.

The issue is shifting poor players who will only go down or sideways if we sell them and then their wages could be a problem.

I’d sell them both this summer and Pickford to. In fact most players should be available, even the likes of gray if we get the chance to make a nice quick profit. This club has needed a reset for a
Good few years. And maybe this should be the summer it happens. New manager and DOF, give them 3 years to build something
Agree - was more talking about the others we would want to shift on if we could. Recipe for disaster to sell your best players and be stuck with the overpaid dross you'd rather be elsewhere.

If this - from https://salarysport.com/football/premier-league/everton-f.c./ - is anything like our current wage structure there is a lot of money tied up in salaries that make no sense at all given what we have to dig ourselves out of
