If you asked 100 fans in the country, who was the bigger club out of Aston Villa and Everton, what do you think the response would be? I'd estimate 70/30 in favour of Villa and again, I mean that with no disrespect.

We've been signing a few Brazilians lately. I think you overestimate how good Richarlison is and our spending power. I don't think we're in for him, but if we were, I think we'd have a good chance of getting him.

Okay mate, that's an incredible amount of knowledge you have about other fans what, you've been back in the premier for a couple of years, I mean it's a lot of assumptions. You might have heard we are moving into a state of the art new stadium on the docks in a few years, with a 50 odd thousand capacity, that we will fill easily, in fact about 15/18 thousand waiting list for season tickets. But having one really bad season last year makes you a bigger club, fine hope the weather keeps fine for you and those rose tinted glasses forever polished.

From the outside looking in the problem for Villa is they need CL football in the next 1-2 seasons before their spending catches up with them. Spending what you are spending isnt sustainable especially when the players you do sign wont have any resale value and the ones you've signed that are younger like Bailey/Watkins seem to be struggling and/or not hitting the heights you had hoped.

We were lucky enough to have the pandemic to blag our losses whereas going forward clubs wont have that excuse.

Realistically selling Richarlison will reset our books like the Grealish sale did yours but hopefully this time we don't make the same mistakes as previous and instead focus on slightly younger in that 21-26 bracket like Leicester have done.

So they're screwed

I agree we are spending but we are also selling. Last year we had 106m worth of player sales. This year we will probably sell Luiz 25m, Targett 15m, Davis 5m, ElGhazi and Trezeguet 4m (combined) and there are a few other fringe players we will get a few quid for. That will be about 160m in revenue in 2 seasons from players' sales plus we have pandemic losses. We got money for the high speed train and our accounts are actually quite healthy. The need to CL football is not for quite a few years yet. Top half PL finish will enable Villa to continue to invest in players. But, if we want to make the step to the next level then yes, we will need Europe and CL football. But I think the management team is well aware of that and appear to be smart business people

We also got £75 million for Lukaku, £50 million for Stones, £30 million for Gana, £18 million for Lookman amongst other sales yet have losses of over £300 million in 3 years and thats with cooked sponsers from our owners (prior to the Ukraine issue).

I think you are slightly naive as to how quickly your accounts can change adding 4-5 players every season to the books on £100k+ a week contracts and £30+ million outlays.

FFP is designed to keep clubs like us outside of the top 4 you'll quickly realise that in 18-24 months time if Slippy doesn't have you top 4 and talk of needing to loan players you can't sell due to their age to be able to manoeuvre in the market begins.

He signed for Tranmere Rovers in 1926 and scored 6 goals in the 11-1 victory against Durham City in January 1928. He moved to Aston Villa for £4,700 in 1928. As well as playing football, Waring also worked for The Hercules Motor and Cycle Company in Aston.

Your new players on 175k a week my bet is Courtino on 200k. Trust you can’t keep doing it.
Everton could spend 1billion they just arnt allowed to. You see the same happen to you if you keep giving wages like that

Baffles me how Villa and Newcastle fans think they are bigger then us.
Both been relegated in recent times. Villa have a better trophy record then Newcastle.
Everton have been a top flight club for 69 years and only been out the top flight for 3-5 years in our entire history
