@Eggs I remember me and my mate years ago bumping into Andy Holden whilst on the lash in town and speaking to him for about half an hour, thing that stuck with me was him saying about how they had a lad who was much better than Rooney was at the same age (think he was about 15 then), the best he'd ever seen by miles coming through.

Lad never made it really - guess who it was?
James Vaughan?

I do remember how excited I was when he scored against Palace. Injuries ruined his career with Everton and then made some bad choices. Still scored 111 in 363 appearances though.

Last player I saw coming through the ranks who looked total class was Dowell. Never happened though. Hopefully he can find his right level whatever that will be.

Reports about Anthony from Ajax going for 50 mill. All just adds more value to Richarlison’s sale price. Proven PL goal scorer, Brazilian international striker, young, barely injured, will accept reasonable wages.

We should be holding out for a huge figure.
I really hope we play hard ball this time. Got to be a number of clubs interested in him.

I don’t really think you can say he went onto make bad choices, as he made a good career out of footy, despite his injuries and is still at Tranmere on their backroom staff.

Hamstrings are bad for any player, but when you have the pace he had even as a 15/16 year old it's just cruel, weird how certain memories stick with you though, can remember that conversation so clearly and just how unbelievably excited Holden was just talking about the lad.

Agree mate, he made the best of terrible luck, and to my knowledge didn't go the way a lot of young players go who have the same problems
