With this new owner promising massive funds at Chelsea, Richie being link with them can only be a good thing should a bidder war break out.
Personally I have no issue selling him to a CL club - I think he's earned his move and served the club well but I would prefer it to be to a club overseas but take the best offer and if that's someone like Chelsea then so be it, wish him luck and use that money to start to repair the damage of 5 years of mis-management.

The Chelsea link if true I'm happy with, have to figure 'if' they want him badly enough, then it can be used to help get some players from them we may want. Not swap deals as they never happen, but ones such as 'fancy loaning us Gallacher with an option and selling us Broja and Gilmour ones.

Shame they don't want DCL though as we could use it to circumnavigate the sell on clause to a big degree.

i'd ask about Werner on loan personally. I know he's not be a massive success at Chelsea but he was unreal in Germany and there's a player there. And he has pace to burn and can play centrally and coming in from the left like Richie. In a World Cup year too he'll want minutes and to prove himself.

Rondon coming good? He’s 32 he’s at the level he is, he’s just a decent back up striker. What makes simms look like a great prospect? A goal every 3 games isn’t bad but we’re talking 3rd tier and Scotland
If simms was going to breakthrough he’d have done it by now.

Harry Kane at the same age was coming off two loans in one season in the championship where he'd been pretty crap ( at Norwich he stunk the gaff out)

Vardy was playing in none league footy.

….this discussion isn’t about him being the next DCL, it’s about whether he’d be a more effective back-up than Rondon.

If Richarlison & DCL stay and we bring another striker in then the case for Simms becomes weaker.

Thing is I remember at the same age what a vast majority on here where saying about DCL. And it wasn't this lads gonna be worth 50-75m and backup to Kane.

Thing with werner is I still remember a few years back reading a lot about how he struggled with confidence hence why he was very reluctant to move abroad etc.

Great talent though

It's fine if people want to keep Simms around as an option (aside from the fact that it would almost certainly mean him playing next to no senior football for a year), but it would be extremely risky to have him as first or even second reserve, especially after the season DCL's just had.

….Simms is progressive but not as obvious (to me) as DCLs potential at that age. I remember watching DCL for the U23s & suggesting on here that he would make his first team debut very soon.

I don’t see Simms reaching the same level but I see him as a better option than Rondon.

@Eggs I remember me and my mate years ago bumping into Andy Holden whilst on the lash in town and speaking to him for about half an hour, thing that stuck with me was him saying about how they had a lad who was much better than Rooney was at the same age (think he was about 15 then), the best he'd ever seen by miles coming through.

Lad never made it really - guess who it was?

I dont think swap deals formally happen, but informally as you say things get worked out. Also worth saying, both clubs can inflate fees, which helps both clubs with FFP. Remember Barca and Juve did this recently.

I think FPP is one of the reasons juve want to buy Kean and sell him this season.

Think they are due a 4/5m loan payment for him - if they buy for 25 and sell fir the same they'll actually make a FPP frofit.

….ooh, tough one. Not sure exactly when you’re talking about but we’ve had a few highly promising ones including the likes of Jose Baxter.

I watched the Lancashire League games every week for many years and nobody got near to seeing Rooney. i had no idea who he was & he didn’t do anything particular when I first saw him but I honestly knew after 10mins we had a top player. I followed his parents out of Bellefield that Saturday lunchtime & wondered what life might be like in a couple of tears time.

Was it Hallam Hope?
