Rondon has scored 43 goals in 174 Premier League appearances. If Simms will never achieve that level then he might as well go and stack shelves at Tesco. He's 21 and scored 17 in 46. Not the Premier League but he's learning his trade. May well not be good enough for Everton long term but I'm not sure we should be writing him off just yet.
We write seasoned professional players off before we've even signed them,so as a developing youngster he has no chance.

…I called Simms ‘progressive’. He’d have a hunger to get better, to treat every performance like it matters. Having that attitude is a major plus.

its about effectiveness for me & I see Simms as already more effective. Worth noting that Dobbin isn’t really a back-up central striker, so unless we bring a player in, Simms and Rondon are the only conventional striker options for DCL. especially if Richarlison leaves. DCL could have injury problems going forward.

Hey eggs, I agree with you on lots, and I kinda agree with this at the moment.

Simms has to be a better option than Rondon, purely because his legs move... I dont think Simms will become a full time premier league striker, but having watched lots of him he does come alive in the box, and he is a unit. Rondon literally turns the pitch into quick sand, one of the worst strikers I've ever seen, I would have Straq over him, dont care what Rondon has done for his country - he's terrible.

My mate coached simms as kid over at Chadderton before he went into man City academy system

His athleticism and stature was his main gift even as a kid and didn't have the natural ability hence man city allowing him to go to Blackburn as they knew he wasn't going to make it there or make them a decent fee

Just a bit of insite into simms early years
From people who knew him early on

its not going to happen, BUT i would love it if he scores 60 goals next season- get it? Simms could be a battering ram CF for us, a different option to what we have at the moment. Rondon might be a decent back up striker in a championship team, not for us sorry. Simms is 21, give him his chance and see if he takes it.

Willing players to be good never works.
Always nice to give them an opportunity to prove us wrong though. So many players have walked out in the blue shirts when they have failed to deliver endless times. Gomes 100 appearances (I know?!?), Kenny 68 appearances, Keane 186, Holgate 140, Davies 159. The list goes on. Simms has had a couple of seasons on loan so lets give him a season as back up to Dom, if he stays). Harry Kane hardly lit the world up before he had his breakthrough season when he was 20/21. If Simms is half as good then we'll then be able to sell him on for a reasonable amount of money.
