2021/22 Richarlison

I get the feeling Richy requested a bumper contract and we are going to meet it and it will be the first “feel good” announcement of the summer

One of the key quotes from him was “I’m happy playing with whatever club I am at”

He dosen’t ever express the I want champions league, I want to play with Neymar etc of the Romelu kind

I think he will be happy solidifying a legend status at the club, he is too engrained in our culture… the winding up of the gobshites with the bus driver pic, the anti Carra posts etc…. We invaded the pitch vs Palace he invaded the stands to his family…

He cares about the club, he is still young and I think he stays personally

By god hope you're right and we move forward with him, won't play in front of a fanbase who adores him like us, grass greener and all that

I think the opposite tbh. With better players around him he could be so much more. He's managed score lots of goals for us and then was also decent for Watford who were even worse than us.

Mate he could be playing along side pele, maradona and cryuff but he can’t pass a ball 5 yards and doesn’t look up when he’s got the ball.

Honestly signing a new contract with a big wage increase to become our highest paid player with a release clause built in would actually be a really good decision by him. On top of what you outlined, he gets to remain the main man here and not risk his WC spot by being on the bench. Richy is definitely one of Tite’s favorites but he also is not afraid to drop someone for lack of minutes.

With something like a 60-70m release clause it would still be very doable for several clubs next summer if he does well. Some risk for both us and him but he also might want to see how we capture the good feeling from the end of the season. He’s not experiencing what he just did against Palace everywhere in terms of passion from the fans.

The fact he plays regularly for Brazil does not influence his value as much as you might think. Brazil are not blessed in attack in the way they were before. They still have good players but not like before.

He averages 10 goals a season. That is not elite. Lots of players achieve that. Rashford being one. 2 years on his contract affects his value negatively.

If we were not struggling financially AND Richarlison didn’t want to leave, the fee would probably be £65-£70m. We are and he does. So it’s closer to £50m.

Nobody wants to sell Richarlison cheap.

Nobody wants to sell him at all, really.

But he wants to leave and the club would probably privately admit they need to sell.

There is no bidding war for a 25 year old who scores 10 goals a season. Especially when the selling club are in financial trouble.

The transfers of a 25 year old Richarlison and a 21 year old Sancho are not comparable.

What has Ben White got to do with Richarlison?

A players value is based on a number of factors. If only it were as simple as pointing at the transfers of players you perceive are not as valuable.

I am not talking about balance sheets. I am saying that the club need money to spend to rebuild several positions that we are now short in after the departures of five or six players and maybe another 3 or 4 still to happen.

To sign those players, we need to sell at least one asset to fund that rebuild. Only Richarlison and maybe Pickford command a big enough fee to do that. Because we are looking to spend the money quickly, we will be asking that Spurs pay most or all of the fee up front and very little in add ons. Many deals are structured in this way, so us needing to ask for more up front (so that we have flexibility on other deals from this one) weakens our negotiating position.

Nunez is not a barometer for Richarlison.

Maybe I am new to this, I guess we will see when the figure for Richarlison is announced.

I think you will be surprised when you see Richarlisons value.

Rashford won't go. Martial has a big contract and will get a chance under Ten Hag. Greenwood, I don't know. I would be very, very surprised if United showed an interest.

48 goals in 85 games across two seasons at Benfica. He did well in Spain for Almeria before that too. 3 years younger and he's had good experience in the Champions League too, it counts for a lot when you think about a players value. I am not sure how much he goes for in £ but Richarlison is a completely different situation. He is a lot older, we need to sell, I believe he is pushing to leave. All of these things make a difference.

I am not happy to go along without a fight. I am not at the negotiation table. If I was I would demand more. Spurs fans would argue for less.

I am only saying that I think £50m to £60m will be the end price based on all of the factors, the most important ones being that we need to sell, Richarlison wants to leave and there are not too many clubs interested in Richy at that sort of figure.

I sell for what I can get. And what I can get is £50-£60m.

If I demand more, I don't sell. No team is interested at more than that figure.

If I don't sell, there is a chance that my team is in another relegation battle next season as we won't have the funds to add to the squad that almost went down last season.

The sum is greater than it's parts. If selling Richarlison allows us to get three or four players at around £20m each, our squad as a whole is improved and we will have a better chance to compete next season.

In January he will have 18 months on his contract left. We won't get close to £50m at that point, unless Brazil have won the World Cup and he wins the golden boot.

Also, if we were to refuse to sell now, January there might not even be a market for him. Clubs will know they can wait 6 months and Everton will be even more desperate to sell him with 12 months left on his contract.

We can't afford to watch him walk away on a free when there is £50m on offer now. The club will know this and I expect Richarlison has made it clear that he won't sign a new deal and he wants to leave.

There is value out there.

Wolves have signed Hwang for £15m this summer. Newcastle signing Targett for £15m who was brilliant there last season. Last summer there was Mateta for £11m to Palace. Cucurella for £18m to Brighton. Tomiyasu for £18m to Arsenal. Anderson for £17m to Palace. Cornet £15m to Burnley. Sa for £8m to Wolves. Olise for £9m to Palace. Even Dennis for £4m to Watford was a steal.

Would be delighted if we’d signed any of them at those fees as all are worth a lot more now.

Over the last two seasons he has scored at a similar rate to Duff at Blackburn before he moved to Chelsea and, if we take out penalties, a similar number to Malbranque at Fulham and Barmby before he went to Liverpool.

Having multiple managers and adapting to new systems is part of Football. I love Richy but he is not worth as much as some think and we will soon see.

I didn’t selectively pick their two best seasons, I picked the two seasons for each player (while in a bottom half team) immediately before they got their big moves to Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool respectively. It is a 2 season average so not a short period of time.

That is before we account for the fact that all three players were midfielders and played much deeper than Richarlison.

I was arguing the point that no other player could deliver what Richarlison has for a bottom half team in the Premier League. Evidently that is not the case.

I didn’t choose those players based on their sales value. I chose them because they were wide players, playing for bottom half teams, with contributions similar to Richy for two seasons before they got their big moves.

It was just to show that Richarlisons contribution is not so unique.

Im thankful neither you or @TheBigIguana have any part of this negotiation.

Ability
Potential
Market rates
Advertising / Merchandising / Sponsorship
Media and Image rights
Reputation and standing

You dont seem aware of any of them.

Also, we have the following players to move on:

Kean
Keane
Mina
Gomes
Gbamin
Rondon
Gray
Allan

All of those players should bring in circa £65-70mil.

Its not as if Everton 'needs' to sell Richarlison or any player. The club has money, the rules mean were currently unable to spend it.

If the fee isnt enough...or the replacement(s) arent available then it would be madness to sell.

Utter stupidity and the fanbase will quickly turn toxic again.

We need to sell him. If you take Moise Kean (only cause I really don't even know the details with him) off your list you've got like 30m of value between the rest. 40m would be extremely lucky.

Keane: 5m to 10m? I don't even know where to value him.
Mina: 15m to 20m if someone ignores the injuries.
Gomes: Whatever Keane goes for in fantasy land take a few million off.
Gbamin: Unsellable honestly. Like 2m but he'd rather see it out and collect his wage as it'll only be going down.
Rondon: Same as Gbamin
Gray: Well we just bought him for 1.5m and he couldn't really sustain form. I can't really see someone going to 8 digits. Even that feels high.
Allan: Apparently he's hurt? He's 30 and his legs are going. Someone in Italy might find 10 to 15m.

So absolute best case you're getting a small bit more than Richarlison. The problem is you now don't have a squad. Where selling Richarlison allows you to buy three players and maybe get better. Remember also Richarlison as our best player was a relegation level side. He's not irreplaceable.

Also your list of attributes:

Ability: Good, maybe even great but definitely not elite.
Potential: He's in his prime. Maybe not his peak but hard to see him going from this guy to someone like Son or something especially when he's not improved that much since signing here.
Market Rates: If you actually want to get a deal done it isn't going to be 75m.
Commercial shtuff: Meaningless to the teams rumoured. They're their own brands. Individuals have to be Ronaldo level to mean more.
Media and image: I don't full get how this works bit I'm also fairly certain it doesn't bridge a huge gap.
Reputation: This is the "he plays for Brazil" right? If I'm buying him I say cool and move on. It's meaningless for a club transfer imo.

Sell, reinvest and for christ sake find someone actually worth this insane level of worship.

The club should hang their kin heads in shame if they're not able to make a significant profit on a Brazilian international striker who has improved significantly while at the club and who hasn't even reached his full potential yet.

Selling for him 50-60m would be as bad a transfer as buying the likes of Iwobi or Keane for 30m each. Since when do clubs sell their best players for around what they paid for them unless they're in the last year of their contract or there has been a huge falling out and selling them quickly is the best option?

Anybody remember another example of a Premier League club seeking selling their best player for around what they paid for them despite them seemingly happy at the club?
