2021/22 Richarlison

This thread reminds me of the Barkley one when he was here. People suggesting he was as good as Lampard and Gerrard at 23 because his stats were similar and anyone that correctly said he was nowhere near that level got rounded on by the mob. Apparently suggesting Richarlison isn’t at the level of Man City or Real Madrid is some sort of sacrilege, as if you’ve just called him a League 2 dosser or something.

It’s fine to say he’s one of our best players, but he isn’t this world beater that would walk into all the best teams in the world. He is a very flawed player. The unfortunate reality is that everyone outside of our fanbase can see that as well. We often want our players to be much better than they are, and invariably end up pretending they are.

…never for once compared Barkley with those two & amazed if his state were anywhere near Lampard’s. I wasn’t keen on Barkley.

Richarlison will be an asset to the top teams, I have no doubt about that.

Couldn't see it mentioned, but he's been tagged in a story today (https://www.instagram.com/marciodeoliveirajr/?hl=en), and shared on his own, this photo:

He's no stranger to social media, but is it a huge coincidence his shirt is basically the dingbats version of "To Antonio Spurs"?

Get a new contract on the table for him. If he wants to sign it, amazing. Even put in a break clause for 75m. Cannot be selling him for what we paid for him, would be abysmal and humiliating from the club.
We didn't pay £50m for him and all of our fans have been happy to shout that for the last four years.

We paid about £34m + add ons.

We'll ask for £60m for him. Hopefully we'll get it, or he stays.

This is such a strange rumour. He gets absolutely nowhere near their first 11 as it currently stands and they've just bolstered their attack with Perisic who is still a very effective player and will be happier with a squad role at his age. They still have Lucas Moura is very decent as well.

They have huge gaps in midfield and central defence that is stopping them from being a top, top side so this makes no sense to me at all.

Be an interesting barometer of how Richy is regarded in the game, this. Surely there will be more interest than Spurs trying to buy on the cheap.

The club have to be very very careful here not to undervalue his worth to us. It's one thing to let him go, which I understand, but another to do so with our pants down. I thought the effect of avoiding relegation was that we avoided a fire sale, not encouraged one.

An extra £10m can go a long way for a club in our position. But I don't want any deal to be offset with loans and rejects, especially not from Spurs.

Perisic will be playing LWB.

Richarlison would be one of the options for Conte's preferred front three. They're looking to move Bergwijn on. Lucas might be moved on too.

Spurs had interest earlier this year so it's probably just tentative talks. We'll see what happens. Ideally, we try and get interest from a foreign club and get him out abroad but that interest has to be there...

We need to sell a player. It's horrid but it's got to happen.

Perisic is joining as a LWB, not an attacker.

Bergwijn is supposed to be leaving, so the attackers anywhere near the first 11 are basically:
Kane, Son, Kulusevski, Moura, (Bergwijn leaving).

So I'd expect he'd be rotating with any of the front 3. Bergwijn seems to be leaving because Conte doesn't like him, rather than any sensible/talent reasons
