But at the present time, the club need to bring funds in, to resolve FFP and allow us to recruit. So we probably have to be more flexible.

Flexible isn't selling one if only three very sellable players fir a knock down fee mate - then wasting 40-50% of that in utter rubbish like Cornet or Denis.

Even worse if we take a player like winks into the deal too whose effectively a Cleverly mark two. At least with Deli he had a period of two-three years where he could be argued to be bordering on world class, Wink had a few periods of 7-8 games where he looked more than average

The problem with selling other assets is we would need to sell 5 or 6 first team players to get the same figure that Richarlison might bring in alone. It stretches the squad.
Not at £50m we wouldn't. Sell DCL and Mina and you get £50m and lose two players who, barring one magic moment against Palace, contributed markedly less combined to our season than Richarlison. £65m+ and there's a conversation to be had, at £50m the downside outweighs the upside, imo.

Dennis wouldn't be a bad signing he's a decent player who can improve, 51m is knockdown but not by much would be lucky to get anymore than 60m for him he's really not that good when you look at Diaz and he's just cost them around 35/40m 51m actually looks a good price for richarlison

The 51m number that's doing the rounds all comes from that Portuguese journo who said it was 60m Euros. It doesn't really make sense that the figure would be a nice round number in Euros when between two English teams it will be negotiated in pounds. So a big pinch of salt on that number. 60m pounds would be getting closer to a reasonable number.

For every reminder of Emmanuel Dennis’s brace in Club Brugge’s 2-2 draw at Real Madrid in October 2019, there are several warnings of a player with apparent attitude problems.

While this tag, which has followed the Nigerian to the present day, may come off as harsh, seemingly refusing to get on the bus before a Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund because his preferred seat was occupied appeared extraordinarily juvenile.

It reflects badly on the 23-year-old that former Cologne sporting director Horst Heldt looked to regret the mid-season loan signing of the frontman in a recent interview.

“He’s not an easy guy. We knew about this problem, but we took too much risk. We misjudged that,” Heldt admitted to the German sports website in early June. “Dennis caused a stir because his behaviour was not what the squad needs to be doing. We then dropped him because our priority was the group.

So in the space of 6 months the lad refused to get on the team bus to an away game due to the coronavirus restrictions meaning he couldn't sit in his favourite seat, then got in trouble a few months later for being caught speeding and giving the cop the middle finger when stopped, then is shipped off on loan and the cologne director makes comments about his character and it being a huge mistake by him signing him, he didn't even play in the relegation battle run in or the relegation play off so can guess how bad that situation was

Im glad someone else brought this clown up.

Last season up until end of Dec was the only flash of talent hes ever shown.

Jan onwards...two goals.

People compare with Richarlisons time at Watford where he was playing on the toes of their left back.

Totally different.

It's a fair point.

I've outlined what I think market value is, and honestly I think 50-60m is about market and fair enough. When you look at Jota, Mane or what Bowen would go for, that feels about fair for me. We would want him to kick on, or to sell him over value, but not sure we are in that position. I hope we can negotiate upwards from 51m towards 60m. It's not ideal, but in the situation we are in, it feels the right compromise for me.

As for the other 2, from what I've seen I'm not sure they're poor mate. Cornet was very good against us, looks quick and direct. Saw Dennis a bit for Watford, and looked ok to me, and a Watford fan has likened him to Richarlison. I haven't seen loads of them, but their record last year was pretty good.

People will have watched more than me. I'm not saying we buy them but more that there are options available.

Mina, Allan, DCL, Gray, Holgate, Godfrey.

Yes fair points. I'll give you my view on each:
Mina, really good player, but very injury prone, 1 year on a deal, and high wages. I would be amazed if we get much more than a nominal fee
Allan: Good player, but 31, on pretty high wages. We may get wages covered on a loan.
DCL: Yes agree. I think he's probably saleable and hopefully would get 50m for him from Arsenal/Newcastle. His injuries haven't helped.

Holgate: I don't see anyone coming in for him mate. Apparently Newcastle pre takeover wated to pay 4-5m for him. His value will have gone down since then IMO.

Godfrey: I like him, but he's had a poor season really. I hope Newcastle come in with a decent offer, but don't think we can bank on a sale.

I'm not sure we could bank on many sales from the above mate. It' probably sounds pessimistic, but thats how I see it.

Dennis at least on the field is about as close to Richarlison style wise as you'll find.

I don't believe in Cornet. Maybe he's figured something out and is now a real goalscorer but I'm not going to be the team that signs him and finds out.

Yeah not great really is it. Probably why Watford picked him up for 4 million.

Mate you are comparing mane at saints and representing Senegal, jota who was third fiddle in a Portuguese team and from wolves and Bowen whose had a few caps in glorified friendlies to the starting forward for Brazil with a massive following on s-media.

Reputation and marketing do matter as does international reputation, in terms of the four at the same age, he is light years ahead of the other three.

As for Dennis - see my posts above mate, be a great way to start the Lampard right type of character era that. He's another Drenthe.

As for Cornet, I'll go off the eye test mate, he's just not very good. He isn't going to get better either.
