2021/22 Richarlison

It's crazy how one journalist mentions something and they all repeat it until it becomes gospel.

Selling a player before the end of June doesn't do anything that immediately improves our position in the eyes of regulations.

The fact we didn't have money to spend last summer shouldn't have been a surprise. First of all you had Ancelotti and his "I'm not a magician" line. Rewind a few months earlier DBB said during the AGM over zoom something like "we're in constant contact with the Premier League over Profit and Sustainability regulations." That suggests we have been toeing a fine line the past 2 seasons (at least), but so long as we don't go nuts, no sanctions will head our way.

We are already 'in profit' player trading wise for last season so there's no chance of sanctions for the upcoming season. We may well end up selling a prized asset, but there's no need to fret over some mythical sanction just because some spotty skidmark prints it.
GOT prison camp rules -any poster not referring to journalists as spotty skidmarks spends a night in the box. @BNJ1878 will now be know as Carl the floorwalker

A move to Spurs lacks ambition from Richy in fairness. He has only a slightly better chance of silverware there than here, because they don't know how to win the big game. Yeah he'll get champions league for a year, and play with far better players, but I would have thought a player of his calibre would want medals.

Kenwright being our 'best negotiator'?

Is this the same feller who got "the best deal he possibly could" for Rooney when he left for £27M...THE English player of his generation?

If Kenwright is in charge of this deal we'll be paying Levy to take Richarlison off us.
Deal of the century!

That's right.

I don't think it hugely matters whether we sell this accounting period or next. What matters is that we reduce costs and bring in a big fee at some point when we do sell. PL financial rules work over a cumulative 3 year total so it's obviously better to sell earlier, but not totally essential either.

We sold James, Bernard, Digne during FY22, all who are high earners. So as well as fees, we will have significant wage savings. We also let Kean go on the loan with an obligation (genuinely not sure how that's accounted for), but at the very least there will be a loan fee and wage savings there. We also let Bolasie, Walcott and King go last summer, so that means more wage savings.

The signings we made in January are likely to have been covered by the Digne sale.

I think it's fair to say that our financial position has improved during this financial year, even if we do not sell Richarlison until next month.

At the time, the British transfer record was Rio Ferdinand to united for £30 million. £27 million may not look a lot now but it was a lot then, and possibly we could have gotten more if in a better financial situation, but considering Rooney was only 18 and we had just finished 17th, we didn’t exactly get our pants pulled down.

It's a timely reminder to all that you dont rush in where angels fear to tread.

Everton need to stand firm on any undervaluation of Richarlison. This transfer window hasn't even got warmed up yet and some on here want Rcharlison sold for at least £20M less than he's worth.

Sit tight and dont panic. It's not that hard is it? History tells us it's the best policy.

Exactly.

It makes no difference when we sell.

We're so far over the loss threshold so long as we show then PL we're working on our cost/revenue equation no sanctions will happen.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it makes no difference, but I don't see how it's essential to sell now. It is obviously better for the club to sit tight and get our valuation than panic and sell on the cheap to get it into the June 22 accounts.

I really doubt the PL are going to sanction a club on losses if they know that club made an enormous sale a few weeks after their year end.

But it doesn't in the big picture. It's a rolling 3 year period.

Theres also no rule against us extending our accounting year to 13 months if we choose.

It's Journalists stirring the pot for clicks.

You can go to as much 18 months for your statutory accounts. Just need to extend at companies house

Whether or not PL financial rules take into account an extension to 18 months, I really wouldn't know.

that deal still P`s me off.

Spurs are light years ahead of us. People saying it’s a side ways step and not a step up are deluded.

It's not a side ways step at all. It's just not as much of an upward step as I'd expect. They are a club who historically, and recently, have won very little. They don't know how to win the big game. I think it's the wrong move for him and he risks not even playing regularly.
