With this premier league P&L rules is there a risk that this transfer fee gets swallowed up anyway?

I would assume so. At least some of it must, otherwise why the urgency to have cash in before midnight tonight?

It may be that we've got very little budget anyway and, by doing this deal, it may allow Lampard £30m or so to spend to get some more loans and free's in, and maybe one big signing (such as Winks or Dennis).

Who knows really, it is all guess work. But I would be very surprised if the club spent more than the £50m we've just raised.

Ferguson gets called a legend and he barely played. I'm more upset at Richarlison going than I was when Johnson sold Ferguson.

I put ferguson in the cult category aswell. I suppose everyone has their own feeling.
I just wouldnt put players like that in with the same standing as your deans, southalls...etc.

Because today is the end of the 21/22 accounting period. So selling today knocks his sale value off this period’s losses, irrespective of whether we keep the money or spend it tomorrow

Proper shambles and heads need to roll for this. Sold two of our best players to Villa and Spurs. Not even City or Chelsea. A crushing state of affairs. Only slither of hope is we bring in players who surprise us with how good they are. But given our track record that’s an extremely slim hope.
