hes good...but he will be in competition with cahill, osman, jagielka, neville, carsley and pienaar, can you see him starting in the premiership? he might cos hes a favourite at goodison, but i dont think it would be the logical thing to do...

Cal, Dom the pair of you are like spoilt brats, the club has done all it could for you and you still want more, boys ffs grow up, smell the air its fresh.

Cal, you are the most defeatist person on here, we play away at Macclesfield, your reaction, we're going to get beat. You may never have attacked Moyes but by Christ you've depressed him.:(

Dom, just thank your lucky stars that you were a child in the 90's because if you think this is bad.............oh dear.

As a blue of over 50 years we have just experienced the most exhilarating transfer window ever. Back in the 60's with Moore's millions and no transfer windows as such, we wanted we got, now if we want we have to work for it, plan and adapt, qualities shown in abundance by both the manager and the board. For us to have even been considered as having the ability to sign Riquelme was a privilege and the excitement of last night a gas(y)

By the way don't either of you say we have millions to spend, we don't, we have the ability to invest (i.e. pay instalments on such a sum, money we don't have to spend now) if that money is wanted elsewhere to take us forward then I trust the board and manager to do the right thing.

I agree completely.
Baines, Jagielka, Pienaar, Graveson and Yakubu
We could only have dreamed about this just a couple of years ago.
Now I am looking forward to the season.

Spot on, it could have been so different, but I agree they have both been a little ungrateful, would love to know how old each one is?

Well in Monty.

It was a great flurry of almost-activity.

I still think we have a good enough squad to compete this season.

And knowing how Moyes doesn't like to rush things, I think we may have a new arrival come January.

we have made great signings this summer. perhaps the anti-climax of the last few hours of the window got to some of the younger posters.

lads- you have to learn to take in the full picture.

Well said Monty. (y)

I'm personally the most excited I've been in a long time about our team. We've got a terrific squad, a great manager, and the prospect of a European campaign. Now seeing as most of my years as an Evertonian have been spent with a crap team, with the prospect of a relegation battle, I couldn't be happier right now! I would have thought Cal and Dom, who are just about the same age as me, would appreciate this. So we were linked with one of the world's best players? Bloody great!! That would never have happened a few years back, and the very fact that we are being linked with these players shows how far we've come.

I think we're going to have a fantastic season and I for one am really looking forawrd to it :D

If ever a nail was hit on the head by a post, and made it so I didnt have to read all the other posts, it was this post.

I stand and applaud you, Sir.

Thanks lads I just felt it needed saying as I could not believe the gist of their posts above.(y)

I dont see why people are having ago, we just wanted to sign a centre midfielder instead of having to settle for Carsley and Neville in the centre midfield, why do we have to keep on settling for 2 cloggers in the midfield?

Surely we're allowed some creativity in the centre midfield, thats why we wanted signings yesterday, we want to show our intent to be among the top 4, and we're not gonna be up there if we have got Carsley and Neville in there, no offence to them, they are good at defensive jobs but it becomes [Poor language removed] when you constantly see massive hoofs up the field towards AJ.

We wanted Riquelme or someone like that who can keep the ball on the deck and play football.

Im sorry if i have ambition but i want to progress to be a top 4 club now, we have a great manager, but we dont have a amazing team, we are missing that centre midfielder who has that bit of class, ie Fernandes, Riquelme, if we have that then we can push on for a champs league place.

Maybe your views will change if we start losing or go out in the uefa cup.

If you think im negative, id like you to see me on kipper, where i am constantly slating the negative attitude of most on there....

Cal, you know I will always talk honestly.

I understand your frustration , but, hear me out.

I believe the club has shown the ambition you desire, and by this I mean,,,, They have stopped wasting their time trying to sign second rate, burnt out no hopers. I for one am truly happy that they focused their time on trying to sign world class players this window, Lucho, Fernandes, Riquelme and succesfully Yakubu. This shows we are going places, it shows we are aiming higher. We signed Gravesen as he can be a strong squad player and was a safety net to keep Midfield numbers high incase we failed with the big names. I am so glad we do not settle for second rate signings anymore. I would much rather us fail to sign the best than successfully sign second rate players who will burn a hole in our wage pocket.

Do you know what I mean?
