Riquelme - in today?

Ok, Pienaar is making his debut today. He's a creative midfielder. Gravesen is in the squad, he is a creative midfielder, oh and we also have Arteta.

I dont see why people are having ago, we just wanted to sign a centre midfielder instead of having to settle for Carsley and Neville in the centre midfield, why do we have to keep on settling for 2 cloggers in the midfield?

Surely we're allowed some creativity in the centre midfield, thats why we wanted signings yesterday, we want to show our intent to be among the top 4, and we're not gonna be up there if we have got Carsley and Neville in there, no offence to them, they are good at defensive jobs but it becomes [Poor language removed] when you constantly see massive hoofs up the field towards AJ.

We wanted Riquelme or someone like that who can keep the ball on the deck and play football.

Im sorry if i have ambition but i want to progress to be a top 4 club now, we have a great manager, but we dont have a amazing team, we are missing that centre midfielder who has that bit of class, ie Fernandes, Riquelme, if we have that then we can push on for a champs league place.

Maybe your views will change if we start losing or go out in the uefa cup.

If you think im negative, id like you to see me on kipper, where i am constantly slating the negative attitude of most on there....

bit naughty that.

no one minded cars and nevs in the middle for the spurs game.

having such defensive minded players in the middle helps to stifle the opposition, what it requires is capable wide men, so far we only have arteta, and our over reliance on him is our achilles heel.
if we could counter balance arteta with a left footer of quality (mgp again) then i would forgive the middle being so defensive as the flanks would be where our creativity would be produced.

Cal, you know I will always talk honestly.

I understand your frustration , but, hear me out.

I believe the club has shown the ambition you desire, and by this I mean,,,, They have stopped wasting their time trying to sign second rate, burnt out no hopers. I for one am truly happy that they focused their time on trying to sign world class players this window, Lucho, Fernandes, Riquelme and succesfully Yakubu. This shows we are going places, it shows we are aiming higher. We signed Gravesen as he can be a strong squad player and was a safety net to keep Midfield numbers high incase we failed with the big names. I am so glad we do not settle for second rate signings anymore. I would much rather us fail to sign the best than successfully sign second rate players who will burn a hole in our wage pocket.

Do you know what I mean?

In additon, Pienaar for the future, Baines for the here and now, Jag's potential future skipper. Howard Cahill and spud tied down. Good times are a coming bro.

I know you do mate, and you always see 2 sides of the story unlike some.

Yeh i am very happy that they have gone for the calibre of players but i hwas hoping they would bring in a player like that for the centre midfield, although i am a little dissapointed that they havent come, but i am young and because i have been growing up where i have had little success, where as someone in there late 20's or so onwards, saw the 80's and they know all about success.

I havent seen that and i want the best for everton so i get very dissapointed when we dont sign these players, but thats because my standards have become so high after recent success, getting 4th, finishing 6th last season.

And i get too excited that we are gonna sign these players and then get brought back down to earth, but i guess i should be used to it now.

Well get realistic then. We all wanted a star midfielder, but it isn't the end of the world, and its not the fault of the manager or the board. They went for Fernandes, he was signed sealed and delivered, what happened was beyond the control of the club, so they were forced to quickly scamper around for another midfielder.

It seems they tried and they failed, they were up against it and they failed, but nobody can fault the club for trying to bring in quality.

Gravesen was brought in as cover, and is a shrewd move. But we don't have a gaping hole like you seem to think.

Back in the 80's we had Reid and Bracewell in the centre, and they were tenacious, not attacking like Steven and Sheedy out wide. Now we have Arteta and Pienaar (who plays today) to offer the wide options, plus we have Cahill coming back next month and Gravesen on the bench.

Trust me I have seen both sides and I was as pissed off that we never signed a centre midfielder, but on reflection I have realised that its not the end of the world as we have good enough players in the squad to beat most teams.

I know you were raised whilst negativity reigned supreme in Goodison. Those days are over now, and you really have to learn to adopt a different outlook. Just think, in the future you could be saying "I was the Generation that backed my Blues to Champions"

these times ARE returning my friend.

Now lets stop fighting between ourselves till AFTER the match.

TRUE BLUES TOGETHER AGAIN, LET US ACT LIKE WE WANT OUR TEAM TO PERFORM.

"TOGETHER AND WINNERS"
