David Moyes only fell below the 50 point mark once in 11 full seasons with Everton. Roberto Martinez is on track for two successive under 50 finishes.

Now let me just get this straight - I don't want Moyes anywhere near us but it puts things into perspective for those that claim we've made progress...
To be fair it's only Walter Mittinez who claims we've made progress.

Before Martinez came to Everton I would have said Moyes is a way better manager than him. Nothing has changed.

But 13/14 tho. That was our season.
Oh, Liverpool nearly won the league that same season? And Rodgers was sacked less than 2 years later? Nah, Bobby is definitely the right man for the job.

/sarcasm
Yeah and other managers this season like arsene wenger ( could be let go at the end of season/rumours), pellegrini( all ready going at end of season) and morinho earlier on this year were all let go/sacked as a result of not winning or bringing their season to a close by Christmas! Martinez has been poor this season and has to be let go now more than ever! A mid-table struggle and no where near Europe or even a fight to the final either, almost but no cigar in both semi finals.

Equally though mate, wealthy people stay wealthy by not setting fire to money or giving it away for no reason.

If he genuinely thinks we are totally safe and can save £2m - or the wages of a mid level squad player for the season - what's the point.

And from a moral standpoint I wouldn't want to be giving Martinez a £2m pay off for his performance, would you?[/QUOTE
We will earn more climbing up 2 spots in the table...otherwise we wil end up 15-16, lose full credibility and would beed to rebuild again...

Do you know how thankful I am to have four absolutely woeful sides in this division. We'd be in trouble if not.

I don't wish to fear-monger but... Sunderland are the end-of-season charge specialists. And there are 16 points to play for. So we haven't even guaranteed safety yet.

But don't worry - we'll pick up a cack goalless draw somewhere.

Just thinking out loud here: is there room to suggest that, maybe the reason the inevitable announcement of Martinez's departure is such a long time coming is that the club are hoping to secure the services of an adequate replacement before releasing a statement?

As I say, just a thought like.
Yep, that sentiment has been expressed a few times already, in various guises. And that's how I see it too.

Its been missed in the mix obviously but hasn't this season been a typical kopite one?

We get league cup semi, they get final. We get FA cup semi, they go one better and do it in europa.

upstaging us at every single step

The fact is though we should not be "woeful" with a half way decent manager who looks at the "bigger" picture,i.e. basic defending/organisation is a big part of the game, there was no reason why we shouldn't have finished top six bare minimum this season.

Only one person is claiming we've made progress under Martinez -Martinez himself.

We were mostly expecting him to be dismissed at some point in the last couple of weeks, certainly since Saturday, but so far nothing.

Let's assume for argument sake that the delay is waiting on Mr.Moshiri concluding or massively progressing contract negotiations with a successor and that Martinez is still in employment for Saturday.

Will the assembled media give him a grilling and what on earth will he spout in response at the pre-game press conference ?
