Best to remember it mate before Big Brother has one of his drones erase it from history.
72 points with a well drilled Moyes team, at Wigan, they had the 7th best defence in the league under Bruce, it took Martinez 3 and half months to concede more goals than Bruce had in the entire previous season.

His last two seasons are a disgrace, we currently have the worst home record of the top 6 leagues in Europe, let in 3 or more at home 8 times, 8 frigging times!!!. 7 defeats at home, last time we did that we avoided the drop on the last day of the season.

The trend is bad, very bad, you thought last season was poor, we are on course to be worse.

Yeah. It's nowt personal, I'm sure he lives and breathes attacking football - I know @davek likes this part of his game. I agree with Dave that he's the antithesis of Walter Smith, which really ain't what we wanted here but are we playing well enough?

I agree with Dave that Pulis and Everton aren't really a match, and while I liked Moyes and Dave didn't, him coming back would be a backwards step, we shouldn't go there.

For me, I'd stick with Martinez if we toughened up, stopped giving the ball away too easily, and really tightened up in our defensive play. We're one aspect of our game short of being superb. Unfortunately it's costing us goals/games/points.

If he sorts that out pronto I'm behind him - if he doesn't, Roberto is off my Xmas card list.

Agree to disagree with Moyes, I never ever liked him mate, was he neccesary - almost certainly for a time he was due to the mess we had gotten ourselves into, but was never my own cup of tea.

As for a possible replacement, sack off all the old type or calibre on names, we have a new wealthy owner the revenue this season on is through the roof, time we aimed for a winner and for a proven top manager, don't underestmate the draw we have now and this league has

Was saturday the last straw for you mate.

i've been back and forth a fair bit mate over him, but yeah that game was the one i finally just said there is no way back from this for him, bloke can't fix what he doesn't realise he has broken, Martinez is what he is, he won't ever change that

Loved his fresh approach in the beginning, breath of fresh air compared to Moyes. For me it ended when he said results don't matter only performances.

If there's ever been a greater example of the illusion and delusion of the internet its this debate right now on here over Martinez.

There's a mass self-convincement exercise going on that this manager is going to be unseated, and it doesn't even register in the wider world. It's as if people are saying to themselves "if I close my eyes and wish and wish and wish hard enough, when I open them it'll come true".

It's breath-taking in its scope and in its utter wrongheadedness.

We're looking at midtable and 2 cup SFs - and Everton managers get a pat on the head for a season like that, not the sack.

Jesus wept. Why do more than a handful of us not see this?

The hysteria wasn't there before the West Ham game, and it'll disappear just as fast after the Chelsea game if/when we win.

The last three days or so of this thread and the other Martinez thread are the stuff of comic gold that'll be archived for years to come. A rich seam of hyperbole and fume that'll be hilariously revisited on their perpetrators.

Throw open a window or door lads. The world out there doesn't register your efforts.

Dear me.

*shakes head*

You're not really in a position to discuss delusion dave.

You're defending a manger who's had 1 top half finish in his time in the league, 1 relegation, whose teams have a track record of being defensively poor and whose record points season is looking more and more like a blip.

Your entire belief system is based on 1 of his 7 seasons in the league.

The world is catching up Dave. There are journos finally starting to ask the questions. Lose against Chelsea and even they cant ignore the fact that our season is over in March.

Since when did you begin to accept mid-table as good enough. Top half I believe it was previously, and 7th before that. sorry it's hard to keep up with your moving goalposts.

And lets be honest, we're hardly certs to get into that midtable band. I'll be generous and say that goes 7th to 14th. We might just scrape in.

I think this sums up how the majority of us feel.

I changed my vote to "out" after Saturday's fiasco aa alas I believe he is prepared to sacrifice my beloved football club on the altar of his own vanity project.

But it is not too late for him to change and win back the support of many of us who are deserting him in droves.

I want to see him change, stay with us and lead us to honours.

But I don't see him changing :(
