Well I'm not going to look through years of quotes from the two of them but my guts tell me that Mourinho would now be making snide comments about Mirallas and claiming that the media and officials hate us. You really think he'd be talking about one substitution?

Take it you didn't hear Martinez post match comments then when most of it was about blaming the referee then for the loss - for about the 6th time this season

As always you show what is wrong with everton football club at times. It was the captains fault, it was the players fault, anyone but the managers fault.

This is why Moyes stayed here for 11 years, no-one would actually have the balls to question him.

You are running in smaller and smaller crowds currently mate, your arguments are getting more and more thin on the ground when everything you say is getting proven wrong. 60 points not long ago? Need to win the majority of our games to do that, haven't done that for 2 years though. Again you blame the captain, same captain/defence that under moyes were one of the best in the league.

It might be falling on deaf ears, but if you think Martinez is not only the right man for the job but the best person to be here then i worry you are just hoping we fail. Everything he did wrong at Wigan is coming true here, literally go back and read the opinions of wigan fans, they even predicted our league finishes FFS! Nothing has changed in years, and bar winning the FA cup (which harry redkanpp did in the same circumstances) he has done nothing in his managerial career to warant anything to still be here next season.

I worry that your belief will keep him in a job, and when we lose 20 goals a season in rom for example, it will be harder to watch us knowing full well it is naive belief from the likes of yourself that is what is ruining the club.

FUNNY:

He feels that over the next two months the team will be mentally right and that over the next six months we will be playing the right way as well. The confidence will grow and although it will probably be too much of an ask for a Europa place this season (he wants those 40 points ASAP), he did specify that we will be looking to have the squad and the performances to get us to that next level within the next two to three years.

RECKON THAT WAS A DEVELOPMENTAL SEASON...?

Yeah. He's showing signs of being a winner in that sense. We have had some terrible decisions against us this season and time it was pointed out.
Sending off probably wasn't one though so he's got that wrong. Think his point was that you don't tend to see people booked for it that early. Mute point.

Jose wouldn't have made that substitution. Neither would any manager with a brain cell.

I've seen Kendall fail twice here mate, i saw Harvey fail, i saw Royle forced to leave, on the grand scale of things yeah Martinez is a ncie and soemtimes likeable guy, but it hurt a lot more seeign the aformentioned trio fail and leave than it will do this bloke
Yeah. It's nowt personal, I'm sure he lives and breathes attacking football - I know @davek likes this part of his game. I agree with Dave that he's the antithesis of Walter Smith, which really ain't what we wanted here but are we playing well enough?

I agree with Dave that Pulis and Everton aren't really a match, and while I liked Moyes and Dave didn't, him coming back would be a backwards step, we shouldn't go there.

For me, I'd stick with Martinez if we toughened up, stopped giving the ball away too easily, and really tightened up in our defensive play. We're one aspect of our game short of being superb. Unfortunately it's costing us goals/games/points.

If he sorts that out pronto I'm behind him - if he doesn't, Roberto is off my Xmas card list.

Disagree mate. Keep hitting 72 points and you WILL get CL footy. Keep hitting 5th and you'll get a pat on the head.

Twas ever thus.

What evidence have you seen that Martinez will ever "keep hitting" 72 points? Because every sane, rational person can see that the only evidence points to that season being a complete fluke that he's incapable of repeating. He's not "young and still learning", he's been a manager for approaching 10 years and a Premier League manager for 7. Pocchetino for example, has been managing for about 5 years and look at him now.

There's always been some brilliant hindsight managers though. Hands up those desperate to start Mirallas.
Hindsight is always wonderful.

But no, not guilty on Mirallas. Talented man, but temperamental too, which would be great if he harnessed it correctly. Unfortunately it just makes him seem like a liability sometimes.

The frustrating thing is we have defenders who are/were the envy of Europe.

That's what makes me think it's a discipline issue, on and off the ball. Organisation, that's all.

Organisation, hard work, and being able to deal with crosses. 3 main issues for me. None of which he seems able to rectify. We worked very hard against West Ham the other day, but plenty of times this season they've strolled round the pitch. All you need to do is watch Leicester to realise how a team should be working together.

I'd agree. But that organisation seems to be improving with the keeper change and Mori's form. It collapsed for ten minutes and still makes me nervous but players grow together regardless of what a manager does. I can still see this being a solid unit.

Yep. It was a worry for me beforehand after watching West Ham in previous game. It felt like a game where discipline was going to be crucial.
I think anyone not calling for Kev to play should have their anti Martinez feelings score double points.
I'm still on fence over Martinez but just think a great squad at a great club will succeed anyway
