I think what he's saying eddy is that stats are made of facts.

This is based on a hypothetical sitiuation. We wouldnt be playing with 10 men so someone else might have picked u a couple of goals.
I take your point. But the stats or facts are that without Lukaku that is were we would be. I accept that others may have bagged a few, but I think this season with our home form, its a concern that we have relied so heavily on one player, much like Rogers did!

That is still not a stat. That is a hypothetical assumption.

Without the amount of miss controls he did earlier in the season for example, we may well of kept the ball, knocked it around better and delivered it to Kone or Naismith, who were far more confident as they would be the main strikers, and not understudies to a kid.

No one knows what would of happened, its not a stat, its a guess. The stats are how many we scored with him, how many without, but that doesn't tell us what the stats would be if we didn't have him.

Certain players up front instead of him may of won us games we lost with him in for example.

Stats are things like....

We are 12th
Lukaku scored x amount of goals
Kone scored x amount goals..

from which assumptions can be made, which is what you are calling a stat.

We simply don't know where we would be. Almost certainly much lower than without him though.

Still wrong, neither stat nor fact, just a guess.

So Martinez gets the blame for bringing in a goal scoring machine.

You know all reason's jumped out the window when spurious arguments like that are pursued.

I think its a little clearer if we say Lukaku is the 2nd highest scorer in the prem and we are 12th, its likely that he could be the highest scorer in the prem and we could still be 12th come the end of the season. Hypothetical I know but a damning indictment of the season overall. Unless we win the fa cup!
Dave, dear oh dear dave, please point me to were I said i was blaming Martinez for signing lukaku? I have had this merry go round with you before
It is my opinion that Martinez and his philosophy is simply to `outscore ` the opposition. Lukaku has been a great Martinez signing and is perfect for Martinez style of play, unfortunatly Martinez seems to not realise that other teams will score against you, after you have run a team ragged for 70-75 minutes and they absorb it, and then punish us, a fact, not a stat relating to our home form this season

Does the stat take it that we then would be playing with 10 men as we would have no idea what his replacement would have done.
