I think I was savaged by the Bingham and Lee era's, it made me cynical. That why I keep banging on about Lee's record. Martinez does deserve to be cut some slack though. Considering how much Moyes got.

The good thing for us all at the moment is now there is pressure and expectation on Martinez from above.

It's show and tell time, especially when he's backed in the summer. I have no doubt Martinez will be aware of the gravity of the circumstance that is changing before him.

As long as Everton benefit then I don't care.

I know he's made some brilliant signings but do you trust him with the money though. Last season, didn't you think we needed a new keeper or a solid centre back. I know we got Mori later, but besides that playmaker position he was looking for, which I don't think has been replaced since Arteta left, I just thought that was obvious.

And that's the Gordon Lee thing again when we finished 3rd, the team we had, with a decent goalkeeper we would have walked the league. Why he didn't still pisses me off.

I was pondering this and came to the conclusion that I would trust him with money because his more expensive buys have been successes so far.

Obviously its not as sure fire as that so we can only wait and see mate.

I don't think we need to spend a massive amount.

Just before my time but have spoke to those similar to yourself who was there and it just sounds massively Everton. Here's to changing that mentality.

As regards Keeper, Howard was shaky at times last season, but he hadnt dropped off the cliff like he did for most of this.

In terms of numbers we entered the season in good shape I thought, I mean we currently have a number of players who have contributed the grand total of zip for almost 12 months. Also he put all his eggs in the Ross Barkley playmaker basket, hes rewarded that faith with goals and assists. Personally theres very little room to "attack" his squad building and the Summer will be a very exciting time, we lose a lot of deadweight and we, as most of the league, have some nice money to throw around.

Do I think Martinez is the right man to spend that money? Yes, do I think Martinez is the right man to take us forward? Not sure, but we are close, he just needs to wake up and smell the cocoa beans.

On our day, we're as good as anybody, and I mean anybody. Just need to see more of those days. But feck it, Wembley here we come. Can't wait to give the Ian Brown/Danny Dier tits one of those days, err, I hope :p

I also get the sense were close but it could be customary fan over optimism.

Certainly after years of being told of glass ceilings and knives to a gunfight I think the margins that exist now are far less surmountable.

Again the pertinent question is can Martinez bridge that gap. We will find out.

Howard dropped off a cliff for the first half of last season, but brought it back after he was injured and Joel came in and did ok.
Guess the manager thought it was just a drop in form and he'd be ok this season but the trend repeated and so he was dropped.
Agreed with everything else you've said, Martinez has deffo set a platform for success and we're nearly there, he just needs to stand up and show he's the man to get us to the Promised Land.
Else we should get someone in who can.
