Here a thought. We make the final, leading 2-0 and Watford score 3 in the last 5 minutes to beat us.

Would Martinez still be backed in that scenario?

depends what the reason was. Random sendings off, dodgy pens and offside/illegal goals are beyond Bobby's powers to do anything about.

If we only win 1-0 (after playing really well but scoring in the 94nd min) would the plotters stop trying to hound him out?

Absolutely. In my imagined situation I'm backing him in every other imagined situation. He also rewards me for this loyalty with a £500,000 a year role to watch forums for an hour a day to see if there's clues about what we can do to make us even more inconsistent.
Thanks to me Martinez is backed for twenty years with a contract that means he can take the club with him if sacked.
My salary is raised to £800,000 a year but all I have to do now is imagine two replies a year I'd give to people on the Internet who come up with negative scenarios.
And we don't sell John Stones.

We dominated the game for 85 minutes so the final score is irrelevant.

One result is a trophy win the other is nothing and failing the same as as in other games mate.

A trophy is a trophy mate, then lot can celebrate penalty won trophy so as long as we won then I'd personally not be calling for his head until next March and seeing Ipswich move above us lol

All that scenario is mate is us losing a trophy on the back of the flaws in our manager which have came.to light this year. So a realistic scenario all the same.

He'd struggle to get out of the stadium in one piece in that scenario I am afraid mate.

Haha contrasting view to it based on response.as u said that is not a manager besting scenario, a recurring situation we would find our self in which cost us a trophy. If the same scenario that gives us poor league form is also the reason why we don't win a trophy then that can't be ignored. Anything other than a cup win is pointless in my eyes, no One cares about anyone but the winners. We go on and win and perhaps Martinez gets time on doing something that we haven't done for 21 years , after all spending morshiris millions isn't a worry under this manager!

Mate, if we are up 2-0 with 5 mins to go and concede 3 in the last 5 minutes against Watford in the FA Cup final, my men @davek and @Zatara will lead the lynching themselves :p

I highly doubt even then Dave would switch his allegiances.

I do think it is odd, Martinez has proven in the past that he will go as far as relegation to win a cup but where that may have been acceptable at Wigan (probably thought they would be straight back up) it can't be good enough for us now. Sitting Here now, I would take the cup over the league but he needs to go if we struggle league wise again, the league is bread and butter of the season.

Every man has his breaking point.

Quick glass half full view of this season while we're now imagining situations where we lose leads. I think it's worth pointing out that one of the reasons we have lost so many leads is because we are in the lead so often.
Some of the situations have been poor, some partly bad luck but you need to be dominating and ahead to collapse in the first place.
Not a whitewash but feel it's only fair to build it in. Personally can't remember many seasons where we have dominated so many games. One easy solution to throwing away leads would be to stop doing this.

We all recognise this mate - the problem is game management when things start to change mid-game. It doesn't matter how right the manager gets it from the start, if he gets it twice as wrong from the 60 minute mark, and at this point that's unfortunately what seems like definitive trait of Roberto Martinez.

See Niasse for Lennon with 10 men and 2-0 up for details.
